glad you mentioned the target audience as alt-text for images is really aimed at the sight impaired. Given that, I'm not sure how long a screen reader takes to read 40,000 character alt-text per image? The rest of us can just look at the image so we won't use alt-text as we read the post that accompanies the image for context.
