It doesn't line up in terms of expandability or scalability for really high-end workflows like what the Mac Pro had been geared towards. For example, the top-end 2019 Mac Pro GPU beats the M2 Ultra GPU in the SoC in 2022 model and can have almost 8 times as much RAM, neither of which can be upgraded unlike on the 2019 model. For 98% of people, this is unnecessary. But for many of those who went for the 2019 Mac Pro, it is likely unacceptable, and now they'll have to leave Apple.
