I’d also add, the people instigating fascist violence at the moment are “ordinary people”.

They are from all walks of life.

Members of local communities, work colleagues, members of clubs you’re in. They’re in political parties and none. They’re “the elite” and they’re nobodies. They’re privileged and they’re poor.

They’re neighbours and friends and members of your family.

Othering them as monsters or not mentally well or even socially deprived excuses their behaviour.

They’re us.
