IME, most people most of the time don't know what they're doing.

Even in their main profession, they don't understand the reasons for how they do things, the tradeoffs they're making, and the full consequences of their decisions.

Which is why consequentialism cannot work.

It makes no sense to pass a moral judgement on a human based solely on the consequences of their actions.

And you cannot expect humans to make moral decisions based on consequences they cannot predict
