Who are these people?
"[Ontario Premier Doug] Ford told CNBC that he would not 'hesitate' to shut off electricity exports if Trump continues the trade war that the president began by slapping tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China.
"'That's the last thing I want to do,' Ford said.
I'm skeptical....
'I want to send more electricity down to the US, to our closest allies or our best neighbors in the world. I want to send more electricity.'
Not going to happen, is going to drop to zero if we get our power act together. You've have to be insane to depend on such a "partner" country.
"But the premier added, 'Is it a tool in our tool kit? One hundred percent, and as he continues to hurt Canadian families, Ontario families, I won't hesitate to do that.'"
While I'm not sure this technically would be an act of war, it's the moral equivalent of it (I also heard from an unreliable source the 25% surcharge just put in place is about anticipated/threatened coming Trump tariffs, not anything that the latter has done yet).
There's really no limit, well aside from carpet bombing civilians and the like, to the responses the US could take to a sudden electricity embargo on such specious grounds, that would put a great many Americans in rolling blackouts. People in the US would die, for one thing.
And strange this is ostensibly an act by a province's Premier vs. by the federal cabinet, given the massive potential and likely spillover effects to the whole nation. Is that because of Castreau and company's maneuverings to not call an election?
