oh no no no. I'm not saying that normied can use lightning. I'm saying normies can put on laser eyes and learn just like we all did. I guess I'm just the lucky 1% of people that started a mynode box and left it running for years and years to the point where I finally understood what the hell it was doing.
all I'm arguing is that lighting is not as broken as people make it out to be. it's hard, sure. but it's not impossibly hard to the point of being unusable. The growth of the network proves that.
nostr is weird because you don't get to approve who follow you, or even know for that matter

monero already got 51% attacked back in September 2025 at the miners level forcing nodes to discard 18 blocks and more than 117 tx's.

They told me they would remove the animal from the premises; I said “no need, I’ll remove myself from the premises”
Just canceled my photoshoot and left 😓
I’ve never done this in my whole career, broke a 14 year streak.
All because of a dog.
Teaching is just course correctively telling right way of doing something without options or judgement.
Learning is just mistakenly doing things the wrong way repeatly until you form an opinion or judgment.

Agreed that relays and Blossom servers are both just hash-indexed stores; which is exactly why the meaningful difference isn’t storage, it’s the interface.
Blossom exposes blobs as plain HTTPS URLs that any browser, CDN, or <img> tag can fetch, while relay data requires a websocket, REQ filters, and Nostr-aware client code. My point was never durability… it’s that hash-addressed blobs over HTTP are accessible to the entire existing web, with trivial fallback across hosts since the path is the hash itself and can be mirrored across the web.
Blossom because relays don't promise to keep anything they prune old events and drop kinds they don't recognize, this backup has to still be there years later when you're setting up a new bunker.
Blossom is built for exactly that kind of long-term storage, and anyone can mirror the blob since it's public. Plus the blob is fetched by its hash, so a server can't quietly serve you a stale copy after you've changed your password, only the current one would verify.
Also to mention, the key doesn’t sit in every app. You decrypt once, hand it to a signer, and everything else goes through nip-46 like normal.
The end result is what matters: you sign in with..
- Username
- Password
- 2fa
The exact same flow everyone on the internet already knows.
Except no company holds your key, no server needed to reset your account, and nobody but you can recover it.
the more the merrier though :)
Ngit
but you need to run a GRASP

managing keys would be hard if we didn't have quality solutions that are accompanied by quality tradeoffs.
this is so good. this is the reality of where centralized authority leads us to. it's a slippy slope until people completely 100% GIVE UP on that system.
It’s like I predicted this or something…
