We only do eye watering red onions around here, and backyard in-season tomatoes so it works out well. A little S&P on the tomato before slapping the bun on and your good. Vegies are usually a secondary taste anyway, I find it disappointing if the burger taste isn't front and center.

I play around with different stacks. Like multiple sauces too, usually ketchup & mustard though.
