Fair enough. I don't have any range in my life. Id say the 18-19 plus are out of it, at least in my life.
So this seems almost exclusively like a parental problem if my observation holds...

I didn't test that, but that is the intended use. Using higher resolution in full screen, when the quality increase can be seen.
Sorry to bug you too much sit. But, if you full screen the video, do the settings change? Or is it the same selection?
Oh yeah you got it 👍 Yes it's in the testing versions right now. It will be updated soon I think, next week likely.
I think I get this. You're using picture in picture in amethyst. And it gives these setting options?
Think of it like radio.
A higher quality transmission needs more bandwidth, digital or analog. If you cut down your channel width, you'll still get signal but it will be off lesser quality. Same thing here, if you lower the quality a bit, you use less bandwidth.
I realized shortly after asking that I wouldn't understand the answer. 🤣
Your source stream would be 320kbps audio + more for the video stream. The server you connect to transcodes it into these resolutions. Useful for viewers playing in pip, or on a lower bandwidth or metered connection. Uses less bandwidth & battery for mobile.
I'm not sure if the kbps listed here is accurate, or if it includes audio. You could open a stream in VLC to check the stats.
@nprofile…m3sx might know. By default maybe hide the Kbps? Could even tie it to the UI type selector and show it only on the complete setting?
Well... there are a few that will display the badges across other clients that support them. For instance, I used ditto to find and display my badges and they are showing on #amethyst just fine. I believe they'll show on some others as well
What I was getting at is only other people using that client would see the badge. Hopefully at some point they can work on all clients.
Isn’t that client dependent?
Yeah. I think so. But there are a few.
Ty homie. I'd zap but my zapper is down.
Holy wow. I had 3 badges awarded that I didn't know about. ditto.pub for the win. 🏆

ya that would be cool, driving around listening to your nostr radio station. I can ditch Spotify and local stations.
hairy arms are cool, it means your a manly man, most women love men with hair everywhere
I'm just doing one album at a time for curation. But I'm setting up for a live 'radio' style show that will be longer in the future. Just need a cool screen saver behind the audio... no hairy arms. 😅
It ended too early, my guests were upset about that and I had to quickly find a new dj
Maybe my world is different, but I see more people over 50 glued to their phones are in conversations about what they just saw on their phone (news) than I see people in their 20s and early 30s. People my age seem to be dropping it a little more lately which I've been quite happy of. Saving pictures instead of posting them, having chats in public. Idk i've been somewhat optimistic about this lately. Except I think they're still damaged from it. So they're not staring at devices, but they still probably aren't having conversation. And to be fair, before judging, who really enjoyed small talk 12 years ago (or whenever this ad was made) anyway. Lets not act like small talk with strangers moved the needle. 99% of social engagement with strangers doesn't yield anything more than a hello. We can still smile and say hi, but we don't need to talk about the weather we're both experiencing, or what happened at last nights game. They were people you were never going to see again. I can be quite chatty so this isn't me but I can understand why. IMO, younger gens want more meaningful interactions and don't see the value (that was never there) in one-off waiting room chats.
You go to a bar, restaurant (not fast food), get on the water (beach, boat, docks), whatever "social" type of location, 20-30 y/os people aren't glued to their phones, their laughing and moving around. Maybe taking more photos or videos than they once were.
As usual I think these are the extremes, touching grass has me thinking otherwise.
Honestly though, that’s pretty much everyone under 50 these days. Kids might have their ear buds in, but phones have vacuumed out all the socialization of the outside world
I'd be curious to check it out.
I, for one, like watches and electronic music.
..and Other Stuff, which is why I’m such an awesome Nostr influencer.
Turns out, in #amethyst you can load lost kind 0's by logging in with the user's pubkey 😅

The aesthetic of fake depth is quite a knife's edge to walk. Heaven forbid it turn into actual depth 🫨

Twice as long in North America. Damn those 240v'ers and their fast kettles 😤
It looks like abstract art. I kinda loke it sideways.
Morning. I just dumped the water into my French press, race ya to coffee! 😂
Still waiting. Geez. How fucking long does it take boil a pot of water?!?! I'll fucking kill someone.
Like minds and all :wisp_cute:
Or maybe you just meant anarchy. 🤷♂️
Sometimes it be like that 🫂
It seems like Nostr is wanting me to become a more official cartoonist 🤔
Things were pretty hot during covid. The 'managers' of the largest instances drank the globalist coolaid immediately.
Ah damn, that's shit and certainly not something I agree with. I've seen a few witch hunts over the years and they mostly stem from a handful of very active users on one or two instances. Its a shame and I wonder if those people ever consider the 2nd order effects of such actions?
The fact is people are always going to disagree on some things, banishing someone isn't going to change their perspective.
Nothing wrong with pulling from sources that have proven themselves. I'm sorry to be down on it all. A bunch of pussies over there mostly. Somehow it became bluesky before bluesky came out.
I was muted/shadowbanned and then overtly banned for saying really basic shit, like vaccines aren't for everyone, etc.
People were responding to my posts with such hate. It was a 1 sided lib circus.
I had a pretty good following too. Used to write stories there. All gone.
Yeah I tend to think of it as ActivityPub protocol, not just Mastodon. Like you say, PeerTube, Owncast, Castopod are all great tools. I really wish there was something akin to Owncast on Nostr, it's very simple to self host and use.
I know there's people here workling on that stuff and Blosson servers etc. exist but I'm not techy enough to navigate (yet) and ActivityPub has a few years on Nostr making things easy to use (my whole set up is based on Yunohost that takes a lot of the hard work out of self hosting).
I really dig Nostr as a protocol as it solves a number of Fediverse problems, there's the Home Owners Association situation you outlined but also interoperabilty in ActivityPub is hard, eg. my PeerTube instance doesn't really play well with GoToSocial (what I use instead of Mastodon) and I can't follow my own Castopod instance, I still struggle to follow other PeerTube instances, it's still a mystery to me after using it for years!
Nostr has the power for me to control all those services witha single Npub which solves a lot of issues but there's a long way to go. Also Peer 2 Peer payments is a real super power that I wish more people recognised. Obviously Fediverse is massively anti-corporate but yet still any creatives on the platform are needing to use Stripe/Patreon etc. if they're trying to sell their work. Many have taken an absolutist 'anti crypto' stance, which I understand on one level but also recognise money is money and the more middlemen we can remove in transactions the better.
I think we can learn a lot from the Fediverse, while improving on it. The music community there really is impressive, with big collabourative projects, an Indie Music TV station, compliation albums etc etc.
