Dead Wood
Through the window I see a hummingbird, its back to the morning sun, its snake of a tongue zipping in and out catching insects.
Many times I’ve chided myself for not attending to these little dead branches, though today, I’m glad I haven’t.
These have become important vantage points for numerous feathered friends at work and play.
So called dead wood, indeed playing its integral part in the rich dimensions of our lives.

Sadly true. Many things from 30+ years ago are still intact and functional, from the oil used on my sewing machine to the common paper or plastic bag, while their replacements are falling apart. I kind-of do, but really don't see how this helps the environment.

Mine!
While reading ‘ “Human Rights” as Property Rights’ in Rothbard’s The Ethics of Liberty, I suddenly recall the moments I’ve witnessed young children definitively declaring, “Mine!!”
The recollection brings a feeling of of joy, which puzzles me at first.
This milestone marks the emerging awareness and learning about: what’s mine and what’s yours, managing things being taken unjustly, voluntary sharing, responsibility and love.
It’s a level-up moment rife with obstacles and nuances, sometimes met with negative impact, but hopefully guided with patience, compassion, wisdom and fortitude.
Hearing a toddler’s passionate,”Mine!”, there’s often a voice in my head saying, “Yes! I hear you, You! Your own I am, I can, I will!”
Whether we’re 18 months old or 81+ years old, our sovereign journey continues.
It’s reason to celebrate when we recognize the only true Source of our rights and self ownership and begin to operate in that Light.
That informed, responsible “Mine!” isn’t selfish, it’s a divine gift.
