Perhaps Nostr isn't the one to slay the final boss, but it's definitely part of the saga.
You can't force growth, but you can however help facilitate it.

That's essentially my OpenClaw agent that I use daily. Hell yeah. I am winning.
Revolution won't happen overnight, but that doesn't mean you should sit back and do nothing either.
Everything needs marketing for growth. Grassroots movements are a form of marketing too.
"to the Slopmobile" is actually really funny. Thanks for this @nprofile…eg2k. I will use this in an upcoming talk.
I think it's a UX problem, which is ultimately an engineering problem. We'll solve it. The issue lies with making decentralized tech work well enough for normie mode. A lot of trade offs and new ways of doing things without a backend need to be designed and built. It's not easy.
Talk about anything and everything. We have been trying to talk about anything besides yay bitcoin and yay nostr for three years now. #grownostr
This is how we win.

NIP-60/61 was in a handful of apps for a bit. Those apps died
Oh really? Have you shared anything on the project?
I love Amethyst but Amethyst has problems still. I get annoyed on the daily that someone is replying to me and I can see their profile name or profile photo.
I think the nsec flow is a large one for many people.
These worked well at the conference and @nprofile…e55f did an amazing job with them. What other events should we make it rain?
Let's see what it comes up with.
New profiles always struggle to be seen. It's the nature of no algos. We can do a lot for user discovery and content discovery. It's always one of the larger hurdles we have in this ecosystem. I think WoT can help, if you're on-boarded through another user and join their WoT.
100%. People are tired of half baked alternatives and social media in general.
I understand what you're saying at its core. We have very technical people here and a lot of development talk because of that. We need more users here to expand the conversation outside of the tech talk. We can't tell people to not talk because they drown out normies. We just need more people to drown out the dev talk!
You're not wrong here: many Nostr apps are filled with bugs and very broken or if not broken we make trade offs.
🤣 I would never tell someone to stop using Nostr!
I don't agree with any of this. I don't think that devs should go back to the shadows of the nerdy and never speak. Though I also believe that code is speech and the code will speak for itself. Proof of Work will prevail.
Definitely. We're back to Nostr bear market and we build in the bear.
I don't think transparency is a waste of time. But you don't have to follow him if you don't want to. It you don't like it you can use the app and mute the creator.
I won't use an app with ads or tokens. Someone can build that though. It's an open protocol.
If he's getting attacked for trying new things, that's a bit silly and odd. Expression of that feeling is fine and letting people know why he's doing it is being open and transparent. I'm all for transparency.
That's great. Stacker News has many Nostr features and their community lies in the same ethos as Nostr. I honestly don't think too many Stacker News users aren't here.
Funding means that developers and people building the this ecosystem can eat and have a place to live.
Apps can literally do all of this. It's an open protocol. I don't have to use ones that do you don't have to use ones that do, but all kinds of apps can exist in the ecosystem. Then the market decides.
One man's pain in the ass is another's inspiration.
Good morning and pura vida, Nostr. Building the future you want also means building for others too. When it comes to Nostr, they're directly related. 🫂🤙🏻💜
It's so true and more people need to realize this 🤣
The outrage is odd.
Do we want normies here? Yes. We want users. We want growth.
Without growth, devs lose interest. Without devs, funding dries up. Without funding, Nostr goes back to being a 2022 side project.
Nostr has been declining in growth and activity for a year and a half. Apps and services have exploded, but the people using them have dwindled. In 2023 and 2024, my notes saw incredible interaction. By 2025 things slowed down, and in 2026 I barely get engagement on an average note.
Something new has to be done. UTXO is trying new things. Many of us are exploring different paths forward, because the old paths aren't leading anywhere and we want this to succeed.
The beauty of Nostr is its flexibility. Large community, small community, basic app, complex app, it's all still Nostr.
So go ahead. Run your private community relay, accessible only over Tor, requiring Lightning payments for read and write access. Nostr won't change much for you.
But for the rest of us trying to build something that actually grows? We need to try something different.

Ditto Changelog v2.15.2
Reactions and zaps from people you follow now show up in your home feed by default -- catch up on the moments your friends loved without flipping a switch. A malformed post can no longer take down your feed or a thread: broken events are replaced with a small tombstone and everything around them keeps working. Comment notifications get their own speech-bubble icon, distinct from replies.
Reactions and zaps from people you follow now appear in your home feed by default, the same way reposts do. Both toggles still live in Content Settings if you'd rather turn them off
Comment notifications now use a speech-bubble icon, visually distinct from thread replies
A single broken post can no longer blank out your feed, a thread, or an entire page. Malformed events render as a small "This post could not be displayed" tombstone, the rest of the feed stays interactive, and the sidebar and navigation remain usable even if a route handler crashes
Profiles with malformed badge sets, people lists with malformed entries, and posts referencing malformed event ids no longer crash the surrounding card
What an absolute insane release! And it has NESTS! Finally!

Get the Bitcoin milkshake too 😎
I feel like I'm about to go down a rabbit hole. Hold my Bitcoin Beefsteak hat, I'm going in.

Me too, but this is a great use case.
Great write-up Jim. Great working with you too. I look forward to doing more together.
Love to see you guys using Nostr. Keep it up 🫂
