I agree. This is a solution to the friction and/or centralization of on-boarding to Lightning. It has several trade offs though.

@npub1q3s…d26p knows i love and respect him, which is why i can shitpost about on-chain zaps, because i know that he knows that i just want nostr and in relation, soapbox, to be the best that we can be. through discussions and iterations, one way or another, we'll find the best path forward.
i just sent 50K sats from my nostr enabled cashu wallet and it cost me 50 sats. i just sent 130K sats from my nostr enabled on-chain wallet and it cost me 350 sats, but they haven't arrived yet and you can probably figure out where i sent them.
in the grand scheme of things, both were easy.
cashu: i had to login with my existing browser extension that has access to my nsec.
on-chain: i had to download a new extension, enter my nsec into it, and then it was just a tap of a button.

Jokes aside, I have always thought that a zap fund to fuel a zap army would be an interesting method to explore and build out. People could get sats for creating their profile and filling it out, and posting, etc. Each person only needs $5 worth of bitcoin to get started. But the hard part would be how to stop spammers from gaming the system by spinning up new npubs.
Perhaps a fundraiser to raise some sats to pay TikTokers to do a Nostr dance 🤣
Sure, I'd rather have 1 million people zapping 21 sats around. This would showcase the viability of both Nostr and Lightning. We are still the latest value for value based economy in the world, but we can do so much better.

Remember when @nprofile…eqct went on a zapping spree and individually zapped people 1M sats, almost zapping 1 bitcoin? (I don't recall the exact amount of people, perhaps like 80 people or maybe he did reach 100 people and 100M sats in total?) Those were some phat zaps. I miss that energy to be honest. The early days of Nostr were wild.

The conversation is Bitcoin and the suggestions of people to follow are often Bitcoiners because someone had to use the protocol first. If it were furries then we'd be having the same conversation but wondering why people don't flock to the furry network. In the end we need a wide variety of people or at least people of different communities to take a chance on Nostr, otherwise it's just always going to be our niche.
I was just zapped 2100 sats over the Lightning network. 1000 sat on-chain zappers in disbelief.
