First of all, I’m sorry. I’ve been reading things pretty slowly lately. I stopped getting notifications for a while, and on top of that I’m in the middle of moving house, so everything has been a bit chaotic. Sometimes I just glance through the notifications without really taking everything in. And, to be fair, having to think in English all the time can get a little tiring too 😄
So, apologies again.

Gustavo and I have started giving Runv Club a new visual identity. He’s a CSS wizard, which makes him the complete opposite of me. I’m nowhere near his level. It’s already looking really good.
We’re also making some bigger changes: Runv will become 100% open, without depending on a single maintainer, and we’re translating it into English. That part is already underway. This time, I’m working with Gustavo and illustrator Gabriela Maçom, also known as 'Sweet Aine'.

I’m building a very precarious Usenet network at https://skull.black. I’ve spent the whole day working on it, and it’s actually coming together nicely. I thought I was “done” until I got the idea to share binaries alongside the board.
Right now, nearly 13 hours later, I’m disabling cyclic CNFS to allow for unlimited retention!
Anyway, if anyone wants to study Usenet, you’re more than welcome to join this experiment born out of creative idleness.

Do you know what a Monte Carlo simulation is? It’s basically a way of making projections when you have no idea exactly what’s going to happen.
You take a bunch of assumptions, run thousands of possible combinations, and look at how the results spread out.
In short: every manager’s nightmare.

English is the universal language, we can say that. But in Brazil, this is somewhat analogous to capitalism in the sense that being bilingual is not common; it puts you outside the norm.
I’ve noticed a real lack of access to technology-related knowledge in the country. Few people know much about it, and those who do often keep that knowledge... in English.
I’m going to start posting more in Portuguese on the blog and here as well. To encourage interaction. To promote it. Maybe this is a chance to do something different.

After years of using Material for MkDocs, I just found out that it has entered maintenance mode. I’m going to migrate my personal documentation to Zensical. 🙄
I’ve spent the last six hours organizing and documenting my services. It’s starting to take shape, and I think it could turn out really well. It’s also the first website I’ve had hosted on GitHub in years. And of course, it’s entirely in my native language, Brazilian Portuguese.

In equality and fraternity among people all over the world. I dream, and I dream of a better tomorrow. The world was better when our political party was the human being as a whole.
And no, I do not deny evil; I know it exists. I just avoid talking about it. I do not give strength to something that should be disregarded, and that is not why this evil grows. You can be a monk and have darkness in your heart, or a rebel with the peace of a saint. Regardless, evil will prevail wherever love is absent.

I could put this into a metaphor, but I’d rather not. And I’d rather not be too direct either. What destroys me is wanting to help someone and being unable to. Having to watch something terrible happen while knowing there is nothing I can do, standing there with my hands tied in the face of someone else’s suffering. It feels like two different kinds of torture. One for the person going through it, and another for me, having to watch.
Some things, I choose to believe, are truly in God’s hands.

i spent the whole day editing the layout and design of the same system... i’m terrible at this, zero skills... at least 10 hours doing the same thing over and over again... and it turned out like shit.
Three years ago, I bought 10 computers for the company with Intel 14900K processors.
Nine of them had problems because of the infamous microcode bug. Today, the tenth one finally gave up too... here we go again for another therapy session with Intel.
Among the expressions that fill me with dread, one of them is: “We’re going to have to migrate the server.”

Brazil is an amazing country. We’ve perfected a national magic trick: your money disappears into taxes and fees, and somehow never makes it back to the people. Instead, it mysteriously reappears in the pockets of corrupt politicians. Nothing works properly, nothing gets fixed, and somehow Brazilians still applaud. It would be hilarious if we weren’t the ones paying for the show.
