cool yeah I wasn't sure you had heard of gifbuddy's sister site memeamigo 😁 glad I mentioned. lemon is awesome for making these.

is being a nerd and playing in band still uncool too? some stuff never changes 😅
weird tho too because the frustration i see people have when they know they depend on tech they dont understand.. frightening for them (much anger)
band at least, you could become cooler by playing some guitar on the side and listening to cool music 😎
i cleaned out the paper wasp paradise, a small but sturdy greenhouse set in the optimum north face sun hill, about to start my bumper crop of cillantro wasp special. #corriandercrew

wat he do?! 😅😅😅😅🌞 cuddled too many blankets on leather couch??!
RelayTools-android supports local IPs. Because local relays are nostr android maxi bread and butter 🏝️ It is an additional android manifest setting for the apk that you have to set. cause security n stuff.
discussions lookin nice 🔥 loading seems faster 😇
maybe time to try wayland.. /ducks
but really, steam deck uses it for the games.. maybe wine is optimized for that
In fact, all this stuff seems to be a massive astroturf campaign against Linux.. For purpose unknown but if I had to guess it is to chase people off of linux and back onto OSX and Windows. Those unfortunates will simply not remember why they even left linux when they get cataracts from too many eyeball scans 2030.

I do appreciate the call to use bitcoin more for things. So, I realize my post sounds harsh, but I think it needs to be heard.
If it is the *only option to pay someone in bitcoin, and they need to cash it out immediately.. That's fine, I will still do that. But I would rather in many cases like this, give them cash directly knowing that bitcoin is leaving the hands of my intended recipient.
However, if I think they have potential to be a bitcoiner and appreciate the network like I do, then I will go out of my way to pay them with it. And it DOES feel like more effort, I do not live in a world where it is not, and I trust that I can create more value deciding when to sell and when not to, than someone who is desperate to sell it all immediately.
I think they're going for the opposite. They are building it so that all events are wide open access. The relays will not be able to ask for AUTH, nor do any kind of rate limits to protect from DoS (other than IP limits, which are flawed and hurt the ToR).
AUTH could be added in to the client, but it likely won't. BUT if it did, then you could have say, per-device auth keys, or keys not tied to any nostr id, just that registration will be harder that way and the relay still cannot protect because it does not know which groups are what. The addition of this complication makes it sound nearly impossible to add later.
So yeah, using auth with it. Seems like a non-starter to me.. Designed like this on purpose. A huge message broker free-for-all to read and write all groups.
their argument against auth usually boils down to, they dont want the relay knowing anything. so they'd rather it be wide open to the entire internet so they won't have to expose their usage patterns to a relay.
I was just looking into that a few days ago. There is only one giftwrap in whitenoise proto. For being invited into a group. After that it's built for wide open download for all those events. The changing/rotating of the keys is it's only protection (nothing on the internet I know of exposes it's data that widely).. Seemed strange to me. But your assessment is correct and using AUTH does not seem like it can help them much. (other than protecting the join event).
hahah, sorry i shoulda #nsfw that vid 😂😂
i noticed a slight difference too, with wisp amber flow, when i start after deleting the app from amber, I never get that old screen where it asks "what kind of permission" with the 3 choices for full, common, manual. In the past I chose manual, and I was going to try full, but it never asked so maybe it is stuck on manual? Either way though, with manual I should be able to allow always 1059 and not have this flickering? 🤔 hope that helps..
this is why I posted this OP putting out the batsignal. as I mentioned, there is a lot of work to do in this area. as well as lots has been done, we have multiple dedicated monitor relays, many monitors (for now) docs, specs, open sauce monitor agents, examples..
MAJOR ANNOUNCE: auth.nostr1.com just received a generous donation, to continue the service. Lets roll. DMs, yeah, it ain't no thing. We got this.

There is so much to do on the relay side of things on nostr. Unfortunately we have been gasslit into "doesn't matter just make things dumb" for sooooo long. But now there are signs of life. I admit though, at this stage it is still a bit overwhelming to me, the list of tasks I see are needed to move forward.
One of these is fully utilizing NIP66. Clients have been adopting it, and I think to close the loop we have what we need in the spec, but we need more publishers and info in the tags..
Not sure what to do to gather more attention to this but leaving it all up to @sandwich and I is pretty overwhelming sometimes..
Calling all client devs (you could publish monitors)! Halp.
Here is an example of finding NIP17 compatible relays for users to choose from. Obviously they will also need to determine if they have access or gain access via membership in most cases. But it's so close.
nak req --kind 30166 --tag N=17 --tag R=auth --limit 1000 wss://relaypag.es wss://monitorlizard.nostr1.com |jq '.tags[] |select(.[0] == "d").[1]' |sort --unique
the disappearing the key i dont think is as important as helping with 'the great refollowing' 🙏😁
my client does, but you guessed it.. android only.
i know, same here but, best practice is to roll them over. not sayin it won't be painful, but if we all do it at once i think it'd be some fun mayhem, and we all would be fresh and clean.
so get started on another one, and use cuda this time 😎
good time, to take out the trash 😅✅
Just because you aren't in the published by bigBrother list of 38 pubkeys that were confirmed actual accounts with nsecs exposed doesn't mean yours isn't compromised. Should we do a huge nostr MIX-UP party soon?! We could all delete our old key, and start a new.
Let's shake things up eh? Start up those vanity generators. Post your next key and OTS it.
MAJOR ANNOUNCE: To prepare for auth.nostr1.com deprication I have launched a brand new relay called nipless.nostr1.com. This is the same functionality as auth, except it requires membership for 1021 sats.
The thing is, providing free services is not good for nostr. If something is FREE, then YOU are the yield. The yield in this case, was TESTING, 2 years of it. This tech is SOLID af now. I can tell that in the year of auth.nostr1.com being free to anyone, it has been capitalized on by almost everyone as one of the only relays in the ecosystem to properly support NIP17. Even as far as amethyst listing it as a "free" relay, well, in order to correct this I will be depricating it in ONE week.
So, give the new relay a try, you can join by going to https://nipless.nostr1.com
I also am attempting to educate you as to how NIP17 with an authenticated relay works, by providing this video explaining best I can. Thank you for all the testing, this thing is battle hardened now and that was thanks to you. I apologize for letting it be free to use for so long and I never intended to hurt the nostr ecosystem by doing so. Free relays should be treated with suspicion at best, especially in the case of DMs.
PV, and enjoy your weekend #nostr

I've gone pro, I only play 9-5 now 😂
is your relay going to be open sauce?
the question is, surely not with adb 😅 kidding i dont care im all aboard the graphene+adb train. train is leaving station 🚋
nah, lnbits makes it easy if you have any kind of lightning running.. if you can lncli you can def pip install or systemd-nspawn
ok, i didn't read or vote 😂
i feel dumb, for having only payments lightning now.. gimme does ⛓️💥⛓️💥⛓️💥⛓️💥chain
oh rly, u need something from uz now? 😎😇🌱
Wow, is nip17 DMs forking to mash up with nip4e but still referred to as nip17? wow. As if we didn't already have enough compatibility problems. @fiatjaf please ser, pick a different nip#. Man, this is completely gonna screw any inkling of momentum if there ever was any for nip17. Has anyone actually successfully talked over nip17 to someone else lately? This is very bad, I really did not think it could get worse, but now I see it can..
someone musta fished your note out of the primal event horizon and landed it on our pleb relays.. 😎
nap shaming will not be tolerated
i do admit, there is churn and nostr is small. But calling it daily active users when someone posts real non bot content that day (in comparison to media that tracks *every view) is an inaccurate description for this narrow view of the data.
Why not call something like "Real people that post content". This is a metric no other social media would EVER disclose because they would be shooting themselves in the foot, their valuation crushed, their business gone.
It's kind of a big deal, what these numbers represent. Remember when elon tried to back out of buying X cause it was "all bots"? And yet here on nostr we solved this problem and all we get is disappointed investoors and influencoors that have lost faith that anyone sees their content.
How many see one of the many DAU posts and then take the opposite action than that we want.. A self fufilling prophecy of a ded nostr.
I've said this many timez, oh well.. People really should understand how valuations work, cause it isn't like this, that's for sure. ⛓️💥
haha, yah, but we like to share these links in jumble and other relay centric clients so it may be unavoidable.. maybe just dropping or substituting wss:// for relays:// would be enough to deter these uneducated nostr clients.
just imagine when our feeds kick in, all that void-posting is gonna rank up bigtime
ok thank you, i will test again soon. and with more unsuspecting clients 😎
@greenart7c3 That does make sense but also wouldn't it make sense for amber to have a "remember the rejection" type flow? or does that already happen then? For apps that insist on repeated calling.. Or is that already what it does when I reject once?.. 🤔
Also thanks @utxo the webmaster 🧑💻 I will retry once it lands in the zapsto 🎉
