Friends, I have story. Please laugh with me...
So, someone stopped by a bit ago to pick up some fidgets in person. They looked at me and said, “oh, you look so familiar!” ... I replied, “oh, yeah, I get that a lot." (which is true) and laughed it off.
They then asked, “Are you a nurse? do you work at the (insert hospital name).”
I replied: ... "no.... ... but I am at the hospital often.” (BRITT WHY DID YOU SAY THE QUIET PART OUT LOUD. LMAO)
I then stumbled a bit and made a silly joke about how I am there often for issues related to RA.
What a funny moment. We both laughed a lot.

The most valuable information is why it was done in that way in particular.
Did someone implement it the first way they came up with, without giving it much more thought?
Did the author know a better way, but was in a hurry so knowingly used a quick workaround?

How much faster/lighter would the software be if these were video gamey dynamic knobs/dials? Or even 3d knobs rendered using the same graphics space for textured 3d uv maps instead?
It's certainly a special way to do the interface, I suppose. I guess being "exactly the same" was really important for the software users.
