Our rain water tank has a bird's bath underneath the tap because it leaks. This issue has become an important feature. The constant slow dripping of the tap supplies the bird's bath with fresh water. As a result birds, mostly house sparrows, use it as their drinking spot. It is quite literally their water cooler / coffee corner & you can see them chatting, eating & gossiping around it. It's a lovely thing to observe & great to start the morning with.

Do you have a way to notify customers of when these fixes are part of the mainline kernel? I'd prefer to use Debian 13 instead of Ubuntu, but afaiu this currently not supported?

'Composition for Three Small Speakers' by Tristan Perich is an interactive object consisting of a small microcontroller, battery, switches & 3 speakers. Built in a cd-case.
Upon powering on it starts to play the 1-bit compositions composed & programmed in AVR assembly on a AT Tiny85.

I hadn't noticed yet, but apparently Italian company Bending Spoons (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bending_Spoons), which among others acquired WeTransfer & laid off 75% of its staff, acquired Vimeo in September:

Dus of de media het wel of niet interessant vindt, is voor mij niet relevant. Thanks for sharing.
Traditionally the concept of Dutch hacker camps was: everyone is a volunteer & everybody has to contribute to the camp incl buying a ticket. In that sense it was different from conferences. My first one in 1997 even had a communal kitchen, dinner was included & afair everyone helped out incl speakers. It was a community effort.
This spirit is still alive @npub1ux8…hm28, but expectations, people, prices & the world has changed. Maybe the camps should adjust to this?

Just want to make sure that you're aware of this option & as a signal towards @npub1ux8…hm28 that in these times prices like this prevent people from attending & contributing.
I know the organizers try to keep expenses low. Sadly organizing anything in NL has become prohibitively expensive & requires jumping through lots of bureaucratic hoops. Cumulative inflation rose to 25% since 2020. Had my doubts on attending due to ticket prices & additional costs as well.

Apparently there is no option to counter this in @npub1tcc…4342 or in the @npub1m9z…whzq specs? Maybe it could be a bit less annoying if the room was invite only?

They reside in the US & thus are subject to the judiciary system of the US.
What are the possible risks for websites outside the US, given the current unstable political situation & administration? What type of damage could an executive order do? How could this be mitigated?

Dear #Fediverse, is there a place online where recordings of spoken word performances or poets reciting poems are shared? Could be original works, recitals or performances from classics. Would be nice if multiple languages are offered. Preferably downloadable & shared under permissive licenses such as a Creative Commons BY or BY-SA?

I'm interested in Hugo, looked into Golang. Found some interesting things:
1) The programming language compiler/toolchain contains telemetry & uses Google's infra: See https://go.dev/doc/telemetry
2) Contributing back to Golang requires a Google account? https://go.dev/doc/contribute
3) No governance info on go.dev afaict
So, Golang seems to be heavily intertwined with Google & not just 'supported by'. Maybe I should look at other tools & languages instead.

Btw the shifting of responsibilities & actions unto the individual has my interest with regards to digital rights: from EULA's no one reads, cookie banners & the ridiculous permissions requested when using a mobile app. Policymakers should revert this approach imho.

Good to see an awareness campaign, but also a bit strange of the AP to lay the responsibilities at individuals. What if we did the same with food safety? E.g.
"How do you like your eggs?
Protect your health
Use a salmonella detection kit.
This is a message from your government's Food & Health departement"
I guess people in NL would say: isn't this the responsibility of the government? Isn't this why I'm paying taxes? So the experts will take care of this?

I must admit, I find it harder & harder to listen to people & organisations advocating change when their actions are not aligned with their words.
Change is hard. Costs time, effort & is often complex. However, there's a fine balance between sainthood, practice what you preach, being a role model & 'Do What I Say Not What I Do'.
None of us are perfect nor should we, but it would be nice if all that talk about change resulted in actual positive changes

Minister lijkt te denken dat foutpercentage op bestaand materiaal checken zo laag is dat het wel kan. Valse positieven zouden mee vallen.
De EU heeft ~448 miljoen inwoners. Stel 10% is te jong, dan blijft ~400milj over. Stel sociale media incl chatapps gebruik = ~60-75% vd bevolking. 240-300milj mensen. Stel 75% verstuurd per dag 1 foto. Dat zijn 180-225milj foto's per dag. Stel 't foutpercentage is 0,0001% dat zijn nog steeds 180-225 valse positieven per dag! Nieuwe toeslagaffaire in wording?
