Rumour has it that there are still people who haven't heard of #Bonkwave
Last night was the 2nd of 3 "first listen" shows of Autumn Waves by Bonk Knob Records.

I feel I need to say something about Artemis as a former NASA employee, Space scientist and engineer.
I hope more than anything that the astronauts get back safely. But let us not be fooled by what this is.
Is it spectacular, yes. Is it a feat of engineering, yes. Does it make any advance in science, no. Does it help mankind explore the universe, dubious at best.
Why exactly are we sending humans to the moon? With our technology we will never send humans much further than Mars. The only way humans can possibly go further is through a scientific breakthrough. Good luck with that when Trump is gutting science.
Human exploration needs money spent on long-term advances - not using the same technology to do what we did before, however, glamorous it is.
So why do this and why do it now? Political theatre, a win for a Trump led NASA if it succeeds.
So I hope all works well and all return safely. But let us be clear what this is and why it is being done.

I do think we need to be a little careful here. IMHO China has done a pretty impressive job in building a home grown renewables industry in the past 20 years from scratch. I don't believe any other nation has done that.
The historic fact that they relied heavily on coal, something other nations did in my memory, is the main factor behind these data. Remember we have to factor in all the embargoes on China that meant they couldn't buy-in technology like other countries did.
So although I agree it would be preferable for China not to burn so much coal I would ask what you would realistically have expected?

One of the biggest problems in my experience is that many multinationals use US software because it's mandated if they want US contracts. This often trickles down, particularly in high tech industries. So that even if you don't deal with the US in any way or form, companies you deal with may do and to win contracts you have to use compatible software.

One of the wonderful things about the #Fediverse are the people you meet. Especially when your isolated from your community. I so rarely get to interact with other musicians that it is always a pleasure to talk to them and hear them perform.
In that spirit I yesterday had the opportunity to listen to a livestream by @npub1jep…jqax . I had never heard her music before but had a fantastic evening listening to her. If you don't know her then do take a listen. I will certainly be listening to more of her.
I have also had the opportunity to talk with @npub1tlf…fllt . She has such an amazing back catalog of music in many different genres as well as a podcast. I am quite overwhelmed with her music and I feel that I learn from listening to each of her tracks. So do take a listen to her.
I know there are many more musicians out there and so little time to listen to everyone.

Greenland was given the right to vote for full independence back in 2009. Since then Greenlanders have chosen a slow route to independence by developing their economy before losing Danish financial support.
So at this point Greenlanders have chosen to stay where they are until their economy is sustainable.

Luckily not this year we have had electricity all the time and we had an upgrade to the kryptgrund (not sure how to translate that) that keeps it much warmer and drier below. Combined with one susceptible tap left dripping we have been ok.... So far...

Yeah happens to us when we lose the electricity and it's -37C outside. We do have a small wood burner but hard to keep going overnight, same for the portable gas heater... So it's drip, drip but even that doesn't work when it's so cold .....

I have a serious question out there for those who like listening to music. How much do you think a musician/creator should get paid when you listen to their music?
I ask because the amount is pitifully small if you stream - for Soundcloud it would take around 400 streams for the musician to make 1 USD and that is one of the better streaming platforms. For Spotify, its thousands of streams - fine for Lady Gaga but not for small creators, often in niche markets.
On the other hand many musicians sell their music for a few dollars for a whole album or less than a dollar a track. Yet few seem to avail themselves of actually buying music.
Streaming is killing music and combined with the AI generated trash that is all over platforms like Spotify one has to wonder how much longer the market for music generated by real people will last.
So please, go seek out your favourite musician and BUY an album or track. Don't stream and certainly don't use Spotify.

It seems to me that people go out of their way to avoid using the term fascism.
He (and his movement) use the same tactics that the Nazis used and have many of the same moralistic standpoints as the Nazis. But they are not identical and things have certainly changed.
Using the same tactics that failed before with Nazi Germany will obviously not work, so we had practice the first time round.
However, the anti-fascist movement was correct about the rise of fascism and a modern fascist has been spawned out of what was continuing fascism that never really went away after ww2.

Hi all I need some advice. I am visiting Berlin for a week or so next year. Although I know the "big sights to see", I want to find out where a trans/queer girl should go. Small cafes, queer community, art, music etc. on the small scale.
Also any personal recommendations on where to stay would be nice.
Finally, I think I know the answer but just want to check that we should have no problems (other than the usual big city ones) wandering around Berlin.

I hope so, I think it looked a better place for photographers. I tried uploading a short video and it was too big and there are few music based people on it - at least I couldn't find them. But as you say let's see what happens.

Yep he is. My choice is to use hardware but it doesn't make anyone else's choice less valid or better or worse. Like most of us (who are not pro musicians) we do it cos we like it......
