Food’s available, but at prices far above normal rates, making it unaffordable for the poor, However, what about the sick & wounded who have medical referrals but only a tiny number are allowed out daily? the destroyed infrastructure, the sewage pipes that have been decimated, bringing diseases & insects?

war officially broke out between the US & Israel against Iran. ppl rushed to the markets to stock up on supplies, fearing that #Israel might close the food crossings. When we woke up, my mother went to the market but found only a few food items; most were already sold out. The truth is, I am mentally & physically not ready for another famine or siege. I mean, Idk... the Rafah crossing, which is as narrow as the eye of a needle, was only opened so they could tell the world it’s open. Every day, 50 patients are supposed to travel, but they cancel the coordination for 45 of em, &only 5 actually make it through.

My siblings and I suffer from chronic pollen allergies, yet we find ourselves forced to do the exact opposite of avoiding triggers. On a personal level, I am the eldest daughter and the primary assistant to my mother, who is a 'single mother' and our sole supporter. From his perspective, he claims he wants to know who is stealing donations in Gaza's name, but this is none of his business as long as he is actually receiving support. However, it was greed and avarice that were driving those immoral actions of his.
Lately, I’ve had the same questions about how people can steal donations in the name of Gaza while the residents of Gaza are suffering.

Even wandering around just to find any job has become frightening and terrifying, despite all the claims trying to convince you that we are in a ceasefire period. Today, a car belonging to journalists working for the Egyptian Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza was bombed.

I’ve become deeply exhausted, both physically and mentally, these days. Unfortunately, I cannot find the peace of mind needed to return to writing. My head is full of poems longing to be set on paper, but I am caught between helping my mother and siblings light the firewood & then cleaning up the soot. We spend the rest of our day living in constant tension; we might have enough to eat today, but the uncertainty of tomorrow and the day after haunts us.

This is our room's wall. My sister, who is studying medicine, has filled it with motivational phrases to help her keep going. This started bc she once overheard my mom & me talking abt the costs & whether we’d be able to cover all of her tuition fees, which left her feeling discouraged. Since then,we’ve made a promise to ourselves that we’ll never discuss costs in front of her again &that we’ll continue supporting her in her journey.

These are the plants of my 14-year-old brother, Yousef. He was heartbroken and crying during the recent low-pressure weather system because it damaged his garden. But today, he woke up to find that some of his plants have begun to bloom and thrive again! 🌱✨

I recently watched a video of a #journalist asking a young girl in #gaza abt her dreams. She described how her dreams are distorted; dreams of nothing but shelling, destruction, fear,& #horror

I wish my life could go back to how it was before the #genocide ." You will hear this sentence from every #gazan even those who were poor before the war. At least they weren't living on sidewalks or inside tents; there was never a poor person living in a tent. Everyone was sheltered from the cold.
I am surprised by people who ask, "How is he Gazan and yet has a laptop or a modern device?"
It is because we weren't being subjected to a genocide then; we were living a life just like yours.

Good evening, friends. Today, I was with @npub122z…s4xy . I nagged him quite a bit to take me& show me his work as a #journalist on the ground. It seemed truly exhausting, both physically & psychologically. He filmed cases of orphaned children documenting and sharing their suffering, what they wish for the world to achieve for them in the New Year, & how they long for a single roof to shield them from rain. I’ve come to realize that journalists truly face a great deal here in #gaza

If the world still cares
While the world moves on, we remain awake, haunted by the relentless sounds of shelling & explosions. These acts are being carried out under the guise of "demolishing buildings for urban expansion" & "reconstruction plans."
Last night was particularly brutal. The heavy bombardment drowned out everything except for the piercing screams of children living in tents surrounding the tower. No "development plan" should ever come at the cost of human terror.

I never like to remember the year 2024, nor even 2025, bc of the hardships my family & I faced. Being displaced more than 10 times, carrying our exhaustion & sorrow. I don't want to remember that I lost my aunt who raised me, my closest uncle , my grandma, & my cousins. Everything makes mewanna cry. The day the sun shines is a sacred day in Gaza. We warm ourselves with the sun's rays, we are able to charge our devices, and most importantly, no more flooding in the tents.
