* Street discrimination reaches a point where it becomes difficult to have a normal life. Keeping a job, renting an apartment, or going to a restaurant become difficult.
* Our existence is outlawed. Cross dressing and impersonation statutes are brought back. Restroom laws with draconian penalties are enacted. Lawrence v Texas is reversed (it depended on Roe v Wade) and sodomy laws suddenly are enforceable.

Rescues and home repairs don't always go as planned. 2 in a row went sideways. Both still safe, but our resources drained. Kept going with 2K borrowed from a grant fund. We have to repay it before we can spend on operations. . So the next trans person who needs a bus ticket isn't getting it, even if it means death. We are in a race. Standing in the bakery line at Safeway in a small town.
Old fellow, kind who has enough tools in his truck to change your engine, is in front of me.
He orders a sheet cake, and asks the worker to "put some gay stuff on it", since his son has just come out.
The worker draws a rainbow, dad picks out rainbow flags. Asks her what else is "gay".
After he leaves it takes the young baker and I a moment to stop smiling at each other.

Yemen's protracted civil war has been a nightmare for all involved. Every side is using child soldiers.
Our sofa occupant was an activist trying to stop recruiting of children into armies. Stopping recruiting is never appreciated, and men with guns tend to be blunt about it. Insert prison, torture, 2 machine gun assassination attempts, and a year in hiding.
Our director met him 4 years ago when he was in hiding - his friends had run an internet line into his hidden room so he didn't go nuts.

If you think you can't get out, you need to know about our Christmas eve day here at TR's "world headquarters" (a flat over a pizza shop rented by the director and treasurer).
It's a cold, drizzly day in our backwater Dutch town. Christmas prep has been minimal. We've been too broke and too busy with TR.

we have no idea what will happen. Vance has a bill on his official web site that would ban renewal or issue of X passports, but we don't know what's in Trump's 'day 1 dictator' package.

Being on SSDI might be an advantage - you might qualify for a retirement type visa. On the other hand you have to demonstrate you won't burden the country's medical system. That might be a barrier

if you are on SSDI it appears the only barrier is to be prepared to return on 10 days notice for an assessment. SSI is more difficult. But we need better info, we're careful about what we put out

We try to avoid talking crystal ball, since we don't feel we're experts on politics. We move people - everyone has to figure it out for themselves.
The recent Alberta bathroom bill is very troubling. Their judiciary is in better shape.
