Near-last minute decision to go see Project Hail Mary. Lovely walk there and back, thought it was a bit windy & snowing on the way there.
Movie was great… except it stopped about 15 minutes from the end - some technical issue. Got coupons for another movie in the future.
Movie kept the spirit of the book quite well. Walk back was nice too.

One of my favourite things since I joined Mastodon is regularly seeing posts and languages other than English or French. Reading the posts is now relatively easy thanks to machine translation (not perfect, but usually gets the point across). It makes me feel more connected to the whole world.

It is tough. I don't tend to lift my feel all the way out, but I know the areas I run really well.
I wouldn't call it hell, though. Running on loose sand in +35°C - that's hell.

🤣 I'd never tell someone to run in shorts in those temps unless they were already used to doing it.
I think it comes down to how cold your feet get. I've been fine in my normal shoes down to -30°C, but will add a second pair of socks. I find my feet get don't cold very quickly even when I'm out for 2-3 hours.
You may need spikes depending on route conditions (slick snow, ice). Running through fresh snow is *hard work* and will spike your HR quickly.

Shifted our bed/wake time by half an hour in advance of the time change this weekend to attempt some mitigation.

Interesting - a friend warned me about all my snow shovelling (heart attacks are common), so I looked; I'm firmly in the top 20% of zone 1 pretty much the whole time, so it's not something I'm too concerned about, so it's probably the opposite; 2-3 minutes of shovelling = 1 minute of running.

55 minutes of shovelling snow.
15.3 KM of #Running (-6°C, -12 windchill, 79% humidity, and 14 KM/H wind).
A lot of snow shovelling was maybe not the best way to start off today's slog of a run, but it's all done. Run is split in two parts because my watch decided to end the first run while I was stopped talking to some friends I encountered along the route. Snow everywhere meant slow going. 2000 calories later, I'm done for the day.
83KM for the week, up 4KM from last week.

I got the niftiest valentines day gift from @npub1ztx…0aek; a small electric blanket that's large enough to wrap around a knee. The second half of my day, I typically hang out on the couch, answering email, now with the blanket applying a heat treatment to my knee. I think it is really helping me as I pile on KMs to my #running.

There are lots of options out there; I have an Apple subscription, so I get the Fitness videos as part of it. They're varied and usually very easy for me to follow along. Finding something you use like that is probably worth a try. I'm sure others will chime in with how they build their strength training plans to support their #running.

40 minutes of strength training AKA snow shovelling.
10 KM of #Running (light snow and drifting snow, -21°C, -32 windchill, 70% humidity, and 25 KM/H wind, gusts 36KM/H).
Spent about two and a half hours outside this morning. Clearing the snow drifts took some time as they were dense and heavy.
Run was about what you'd expect for the conditions, the entire route was a complete mess.
With today's 10.06KM, it brings my weekly running distance to 66.66km. 🤣 (I had to!)

I complained *a lot* about this during last weekend's @ByMUG meeting (local Mac/iOS user group). Fortunately, I was able to recover the previous version of the apps via Time Machine and remove the new versions, then turned off auto-updates.
I haven't had to learn the incantations that are LaTex, but I'm aware of how useful it is for those who do need it.

Good workout, but the first strength training errored out about 12 minutes in, so I started another one, then shovelled snow.
Another zone 2 run, bit wind chillier, and I'm settling into this routine. One of the runners I see regularly said "I appeared to have forgotten my pants." Which made me chuckle.
