Work became a lot less stressful when I started ignoring dumb instructions, and focusing on what needed to be done.
The trick is to be enthusiastic about the instruction and then do nothing about it. Everyone remains happy.

Mastodon, help me out - there's a concept around things like tattoos and piercings in dating where they attract one group of people and turn off another group of people. What's that concept called? #askFedi #tattoos #dating

"When a tech company saturates its market, it has to come up with a way to convince investors that it can still grow, otherwise they will revalue the "growth company" as a "mature company" and lop a massive chunk off its valuation, depriving it of the highly desirable stock that might allow it to resume its growth."
Growth for the sake of growth - the ideology of the cancer cell.

"Public polling of AI sentiment is in the gutter; it’s never been popular, and it’s especially unpopular now. A widely discussed NBC poll found that just 26% of Americans had positive feelings about AI; around half had negative feelings. Gen Z in particular loathes AI: For respondents aged 18-34, AI’s net favorability rating was minus 44." #ai

Aussies in two states offered free public transport as price of fuel surges
"Victorians will be offered free public transport for one month while Tasmanians will travel for free until July, as the country is gripped by an escalating fuel crisis.
Trains, trams and buses will be free in Victoria from March 31 until the end of April, a temporary measure announced to help ease cost of living pain in the state."

@nprofile…ks6m I think the way that's phrased, it's less about Poles leaving and more about pushing the narrative of "needing" to tax less.

You might see a bunch of stuff on the news about a "cash for land" peace deal brokered by the US with Russia. This is a complete misunderstanding of the situation on the US side - not everything is a property deal. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is NOT about territory - it is about political control. If Ukraine agrees (they won't and Europe will support them), then the Russians will rearm and restart again later. Today Donbas, tomorrow the Baltics. #russia #ukraine

My son put up an incredible display of goalkeeping today to win Man of the Match in a hugely entertaining 4:4 draw against a very good team. Everything on display - wild diving, fingertip saves, strong two handed blocks, confident 1:1, dominating the box, and distribution into counter-attacks. The parents and coaches were blown away. I'm a very proud dad! ⚽🧤💪

While on holiday in Poland (of all places) my 10yo middle daughter declared herself a #vegetarian. Nothing wrong with that. However, it came with a long list of stipulations about what she wouldn't eat. In the four weeks since, she has refused or half eaten and walked away from every meal I've served. In desperation, I signed up to HelloFresh to just send me veg dinners. Now I have three kids not eating their food. #fml #facedesk #widowhood
