There is no extensions API. Extensions are monkey-patching GNOME Shell, they are directly modifying the shell itself, so everything in GNOME Shell is 'part of the extension API'. This makes them very powerful and enables many of the crazy extensions, but also means that they break when the shell internals change.

As far as I know it's called captive portal.

My favorite comment I read today about the #X11 removal: " TCP/IP is over 50 years old but nobody is calling for it's replacement. 😉 ". Really speaks for itself.

I'm sorry to hear about your frustration with this. To me, that sounds more like a bug than a deliberate design decision. Have you tried reporting it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues?

#Eyedropper 2.1.0 has been released, featuring
- RGB decimal notation
- support for global shortcuts
- a new way to directly enter colors, without picking them first
Download the new version on [Flathub](https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.finefindus.eyedropper).

I just noticed that the #GNOME implementation of the global shortcuts portal was finally merged 🎉 Thanks to everyone who worked on it!

I know, but the solution to a feature not working well, shouldn't be to add yet another setting. You are effectively just solving the issue for those who either already know about the setting when it is added (i.e. the bug reporter) or those who manually search through the settings, which a minority of users. All other users will be left with a buggy feature.
It would be much better to solve the root issue of the feature not working as intended, improving it for everyone.

For sure, but I think most of the settings can be avoided. For your example, I doubt users want to actually constantly toggle the GPU acceleration on and off. A better solution would be to enable it by default (not my métier, but I think that's something most people prefer) and possibly disable it based on a few hidden parameters, e.g. low-battery/power-saving mode, high GPU usage, etc.

I'm so tired of FOSS apps adding every possible feature and settings to configure everything. It really destroys the UX for users and makes it hard for new users to use the application effectively.
It's hard to contribute effectively to these applications because contributions are more likely to introduce bugs, harder to discuss and harder to test.
I'd kind of like to fork them, switch to the proper default and remove the setting, just so you can actually use them.

The ability to fork and add features that the original author does not want to add is such an underrated thing.

Oh, that's just because of my accent-color.
The screenshot was more about how the attached dialog can be moved away and how broken it looks.

After almost a year since the last release, a new version of #Eyedropper is now available.
It now features a color editor, allowing to directly modify picked colors, a new warning page for unsupported systems (Thanks to @npub10ew…chty for the illustration) and a rewritten color conversion backend.
The new version should be available on Flathub soon.

This seems to be a common problem right now.
It looks like it's not caused by Moshidon, because in my tests the app doesn't even get the notification.

To be fair, I've manage to write some pretty ugly λs. I even managed to write them backwards, but at least they were still recognizable.
My favorite so far is this one, which should be |.

In the data that #Hieroglyphic uses to classify #TeXLaTeX symbols, all of these are symbols are used to classify λ.
Other symbols have similar data issues, I guess that explains why the classification is sometimes suboptimal.

Small UI update for muting hashtags in #Moshidon. Also, choosing a duration for how long hashtags are muted.
Happy to hear feedback on the row descriptions. I'm a bit unsure about their wording and clarity

My MR which implements a new image mounting dialog for #GNOME Disks in #Rust has been merged 🎉
The new dialog allows not only to mount and view disk images, but also to edit, inspect, write or, if the disk image is already mounted, unmount it.
Thanks to @npub1dkc…3gke for the design and to @npub1xxz…7aau for the review and help.
