Following this decision, I'm considering just retiring the whole "EighthLayer" thing altogether. I came up with that username/persona when I started streaming three and a half years ago so for me it'll always been associated with that and "content creation" (I hate that term).
Not that association is a bad thing or whatever; I did enjoy streaming for the most part. But I think there will always be temptation to get back into it all over again whilst "EighthLayer" exists, and then the whole cycle begins again. Maybe if I kill it off, that'll stop any temptation in the future.
I need to think it over more. 🤔💭

Okay, so this is going to sound a bit like a broken record for me (and probably predictable), so sorry in advance about that but I feel like I just need to do this.
I’m going to stop streaming again. Yeah, I know, it’s the third time now I’ve said it but this time it’s for good. No promises of the occasional stream in the future or anything like that. I’m done this time around.
Although I do enjoy it most of the time, I feel like I can’t help but put too much pressure on myself and the stress that causes adds up over time to the point that sometimes I really don’t feel like going live. I’m an introvert (you may know that lol) and there’s only so much I can put myself out there before I feel like I need to hide away again. 😆
Thank you though. I really do appreciate everyone that has joined in on my streams and had fun, anyone that has followed and subscribed, and supported me in anyway over the years I’ve been streaming on and off for.

It’s games like this I like to just walk around and take in the atmosphere. Almost roleplay the character I’m controlling and think “would they realistically run at this point or just walk?”. Seems a bit rushed if I just run everywhere I need to get to.

I’m not a fan of horror genre at all, mainly because I hate jump scares. It kept me from playing it for a long time. But I did when the first game released on PC and I’m glad I did. It’s a fantastic game.

Damn, I forgot how deep the characters are in this game. That opening sequence with Joel singing and playing the guitar is so emotional from the outset. It’s like playing a film. I love it.

Yeah episode 9 was pretty pointless. No need for it really.
I do wonder what they’ll do with season 3 considering they could have finished the storyline this season. Perhaps a time jump where we see the downfall of Lumon and severed people reintegrated into society.

I’m a bit underwhelmed with it tbh. It’s very detailed don’t get me wrong, but I’m just not sure about it. Feels a bit uncanny valley.
The pop-in of objects and NPCs are a bit jarring too. And the controls and general navigation feel awkward.
I think I may refund it as I’m still under the 2 hour threshold and then see how it progresses. Maybe watch some gameplay videos etc.

Brilliant episode! Loved it when Mark and Gemma were reunited, but brutal at the end with Innie Mark choosing Helly with Gemma banging on the locked door in the background.
I feel like they could have wrapped it in 2 seasons though. All they would have needed to cover off was if reintegration works and what Cold Harbour actually is. Especially if they used the time better in the dud that was episode 8.
I hope we’ll need those answers in season 3.

Streamer.bot is a great tool for streamers on the big platforms like Twitch and YouTube (I use it myself!), but it lacks official support for open source platforms like #Owncast and it would be great to see this added.
That's why I've submitted a suggestion for it on their ideas page, and it would great if you could vote as well! It's only got a single lonely vote which I'm pretty sure is mine for suggesting it. 😅

I’ve found a tool for exactly my problem and it’ll combine the JSON file with photos and videos… for a fee of course.
$24. I’ll consider it. May try myself first though. Surely it could be done through PowerShell or something.

Trying to export from #GooglePhotos is a nightmare. :eighthlayer_facepalm:
Could go through #GoogleTakeout and download the 170GB worth of photos and video from there, but they don’t have embedded EXIF data, but a separate JSON file for each photo/video instead.
Alternative is going through and manually selecting each to download which then includes the EXIF data.

If the suggestions above don’t work, I’d suggest trying to record locally at the same time as streaming. If you set it so the recording uses the same encoder as your stream, you’re adding very little extra workload to your computer.
