I've a question about #OpenBSD . How come there isn't much in the way of #Wayland stuff compared to the #FreeBSD ? I'd have presumed that moving on towards Wayland is the future ? Correct me if I'm wrong or missing something. #RunBSD

I have a daft question and believe me I'm good at daft questions. Now that I'm on FTTP and I'm going to start hosting more services rather than out source. Am I best to have separate IP addresses for things like mail and web servers so if they get DDOS my own home internet on its separate IP would be OK and not affected ??? Or as it's all on the same fibre connection would it not matter as a DDOS would affect it all ?
Did I just make sense to anyone ? 😂

Still tinkering with #DWL and I'm actually really liking it. So much so that I've rewritten my #Eww bar workspace script so it works with DWL . I still run #RiverWM but you never know I could become a convert. 🤔

Been very busy today and still not finished. Ripped up the old carpet in my #HomeLab room. Bought a new one and then fitted it. Built a new rack and assemble another desk for me to work on other equipment and build stuff. Still got the servers to relocate from their old cupboard to the new rack. Even have my reclining thinking couch in there too. Getting there though. 🙃

Been using #HelixEditor for a while now and I thought I'd just check back with my #Neovim config and just nope ! I don't miss the hassle of all those breaking changes. Think I'm going to stick where I'm at with Helix as it just works for me the way I want it to with a little config.

So #ChimeraLinux looks interesting, sort of a BSD based non GNU Linux distro. Anybody here using it and if so what distro did you come from ?
What drew you and what keeps you here instead of the likes of say #AlpineLinux , #VoidLinux or even just going #FreeBSD or #OpenBSD ??

Nice ! This simple-completion-language-server works a treat for #HelixEditor. Yes you have to configure it to work for each of your languages and or set up a stub language that you could enable from the command with :set-language stub . But other than that it sorts out the issue of no text completion from the opened buffer.

I was today years old when I found out that I could use json/hocon style in my sway config. That'll tidy things up somewhat.

Here's Bella a cat we took in a good few years ago whom you couldn't go near or touch for fear of being bitten or scratched. We think she didn't have a good life previously but now as you can see she curls up beside me on the sofa and let's me pick her up and cuddle her.

Had to drive up to Elgin today as my company van has been recalled re emissions. Got here and the girl at reception said "what are your plans today?" .
I thought odd as it apparently it's only a software upgrade but asked why ? She told me it could be two hours. Hmm what for do in Elgin for possibly two hours on foot ? I can't go to MacDonald's or the like as I'm being really good and on plan with Slimming World. Oh time for a wonder. 🙄

I think I've found my battery drain issue on my #Fairphone4 whilst running #Calyxos . I was pointed to downloading an app called cpuinfo on #fdroid and it showed all 8 cores at Max. Tracked it down to #OSMAND . I force stopped it and all cores drop to less than half. So I guess I'll not be using that app for a while.
