We could debate the 'all about self-interest' . Not a position I hold personally. There's economic theory, a science, and socio-economic theory which tries to marry the sciences (including sociology) with psychology and a hefty input from the philosophical and metaphysical disciplines. All true, but, in good European diplomatic style enough channels are left open. So, on one hand life outside the EU will be painful (the constant thorn / Machiavelli) the ball is till in play. Possibly true in the short term but if the 'reset' is hard wired into a continuing 'relationship' I'd bet on the EU gaining over the medium / long term. i My European friends are smarter and better negotiators than anyone from the Westminster Village ii Little England needs the EU more than HMG etc acknowledge.
