U.S. President Trump says he will nominate E.J. Antoni, chief economist for the Heritage Foundation, to replace Erika McEntarfer, the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, who he fired last week after a disappointing jobs report.
"Antoni, a contributor to the Project 2025 policy rubric, has been a longtime skeptic of BLS data. On Bannon’s podcast last week, Antoni called for McEntarfer to be fired shortly before Trump pulled the trigger," NBC reports.

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker has set the record for the longest speech in Senate history, surpassing Sen. Strom Thurmond who spoke against the Civil Rights Act for 24 hours and 18 minutes in 1957. Booker is still speaking against the Trump administration's "grave and urgent" threat to the country. He has shared letters from constituents and read news articles, discussing a wide range of subjects and in his opening remarks, referencing his hero, the late Rep. John Lewis. "I start tonight thinking about him; I've been thinking about him a lot during these last 71 days. 'Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, help redeem the soul of America,'" Booker said, invoking Lewis' words. "And had to ask myself, if he's my hero, how am I living up to his words?"

"Murder the Truth," a new book by New York Times journalist and editor David Enrich, discusses the movement to overturn Sullivan, accelerated by Trump, his allies and people who are influenced by them. "The push to overturn Roe was obviously one of the most coordinated assaults on established Supreme Court precedent, probably in history," Enrich says. A U.S. journalist shot by police while covering the 2020 protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis is dying of her injuries.
NPR reports a "nonlethal" foam plastic bullet hit Linda Tirado, 42, in the eye — even though she was wearing protective goggles and press credentials. "While we she has battled, her condition has continued to worsen to the point she is at life's end and receiving palliative care," the National Press Club said in a statement.
