I don’t like to share Substack articles, for, well reasons. But this is a great one and really encapsulates what I’ve been feeling for the entire #Artemis2 #ArtemisII experience.
The whole time from launch to splashdown I’ve been feeling pretty emotional about it and I really couldn’t understand why. The just general awe and inspiration I’ve felt from the crew. The sense of wonder and exploration that I’ve not felt since I was a kid. It made me feel insignificant in all the right ways, not in the way that I don’t matter, but in reminding me that the scope of my problems can feel huge and be simultaneously nothing in the grand scheme of things. I didn’t know I needed this mission, but I am coming out of it a better person because of that crew.
To sum the article up, this statement resonated with me the most but I highly recommend reading the entire thing.
the feeling of watching something go right and realizing, somewhere deep in your body, that you had forgotten things could go right. Because when something actually goes right, when the people in charge do their jobs well, speak in full sentences, make decisions that protect people instead of endangering them, the reaction can feel strangely emotional

Hey I guess I get to be on the flip side of the #GetFediHired hashtag in that I’m hiring for someone to join my team. I’m looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to come work on our #ReactNative #iOS and #Android apps. This is for a remote position located in the United States. Check out the job description and if this is you, I invite you to apply! https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/givebutter/03f44c53-52f7-443a-a15a-f68bdc9a1bf4
Note: I am happy to chat more about Givebutter, the team, and the role, however, only applications through the link will be considered.
Edit: clarified location

Non #ChicagoBears fans won’t get the hype we are in right now. We’ve had a year here and there where we have been solid, but this truly feels like the flip of a switch. The start of something greater. This is year one of the Ben Johnson era and I think we are just getting started.

2025-07-24 18:29:38 UTC

Damn man… while Terry Bollea turned out to be a terrible person, #HulkHogan was a legend in professional wrestling and the #WWE. He’s one of the main reasons I got into it in the first place and I can still remember vivid memories of #Hulkamania running wild back in the 80s and early 90s.
It’s a catch 22 because I feel little for him as a person and his actions outside of the ring, but a massive part of my childhood was lost today.
That’s two big icons from my youth gone this week. Death comes in threes and I’m not sure who’s next on the list.

Called it. Not only was it a disappointment of an ending, it failed to live up to any expectation of being the final book in the series. Not trilogy/quadrilogy, series… I feel like Terry Brooks let his fans down with The Fall of Shannara series. There was no fall. There was no triumphant ending to the novel or set. It ended basically like the last 3 sets did all tied up neatly in a bow and ready for the next book to pick up where it left off. If someone told me there was another book coming after it, I’d say yeah that tracks because it feels unfinished.
To be fair, the last 3 sets were as cookie cutter as it can be so I guess that one is on me. I would have just expected something a little more after reading 32 books.
Oh well, on to the next book in my reading backlog mountain.

I wrote up a few words and added some code examples to show how I’ve extended @npub1sne…uq5r to start posting to Bluesky. https://aaronhall.tech/blog/2025/03/adding-bluesky-to-my-screenshot-automation/

Yeah the moment there’s the ability to have different versions in the wild, is the moment you always have risks of stuff like this happening. It’s one of the downsides of decentralized platforms as a whole, protocol notwithstanding

Huh, just realizing I’m not seeing any photomode posts on my Mastodon account anymore. Maybe a bug in one of the recent updates? 🤔

It’s kinda ludicrous how much I like The Offspring and Bad Religion. Like some days I’d rather listen to them over any metal.

I generally tend to miss most of the drama, and hopefully I’m not the cause of any, but I will say this is the best damn group of weirdos I’ve hung with on the net and I’ve been online for a long time. From back in the days when computers screamed when they went online. https://gamerstavern.online/@brakeoutgaming/114190995116410550

I'm still blown away by the story in #RedDeadRedemption2. What a masterclass of a game https://aaronhall.tech/games/2025/red-dead-redemption-2/

Just rolled credits on #RedDeadRedemption2 and wow wow wow wow wow. Phenomenal game, phenomenal story, I can see why it’s so beloved. Just wow, A+ Rockstar Games.

It's taken me almost 5 months to sit down and actually write about everything that's gone on lately. I finally feel like I'm in the right head space to gather a bunch of words together and throw it on the interwebz.

Huh… #KDE 6.3 just released eh? I’m definitely a Gnome-body, but it’s been a long time since I’ve tried KDE for reals beyond the Steam Deck.
