T-Mobile is moving customers to new plans. Some promised no rate increases in different configurations/limitations. T-Mobile is showing that you cannot take them at their word. I had a price-lock for 5 years. Now the price will go up $12/month. Well, until they do this stunt again.
3 mobile carriers is too few, creates a oligopoly. We need a government that has people in its interest instead of corporations and plutocrats.

Just read this sobering retrospective from @NiemanLab on Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post.
It tracks the arc from 2013—when Bezos was the "badass" billionaire savior of journalism—to February 2026, where he has largely gone silent during a "bloodbath" of layoffs (30% of the newsroom) and a pivot toward "free market" editorializing.
The piece highlights:
The 300+ jobs cut yesterday (Feb 4), including bureaus and the Amazon reporter.
The shift from "curious steward" to distant owner.
How the 2024 non-endorsement was just the start of a broader "preemptive obedience" to power.
It’s a case study in how quickly a "pillar of democracy" can be hollowed out when its ownership priorities shift.

I haven't had to replace any o-rings. The tape decks I have are in good working order, fortunately. But I can see the frustration factor it presents. I mostly listen to tapes and vinyl on weekend mornings with my husband. If it's just me, I'll stick to CDs or digital files as it's easier. Which is something I can understand as why most people listen to digital formats.

Used equipment is available. Damaged pieces can be repaired. Comes with the territory. I remember back to televisions that needed tubes replaced. But as to new equipment, it's a chicken-egg thing. If there is enough demand, new devices will be made. If new devices are made, it can spark demand. Maybe. The thing is, used cassette tapes are available, and often at prices much lower than comparable CDs. It makes for an affordable hobby.
