So the origins of the grotesque lies about Haitian immigrants come directly from the neo-Nazi group Blood Tribe.
Blood Tribe, founded by esoteric Hitlerist loser Christopher Pohlhaus, is the group that's been marching around Ohio and other parts of the country with Swastikas and screaming "Sieg Hiel" and waving guns at immigrants while shouting at them to "go the fuck back to Africa".
So apparently Laura Loomer, JD Vance, and great replacement bandwagoner Charlie Kirk are the least racist players in this situation.
Blood Tribe member Drake Berentz, giving a racist pseudonym, even testified to the Springfield city council before being ejected.
It is noteworthy how much the dehumanizing, visceral elements of this edge on the ancient antisemitic trope of blood libel (beloved by neo-Nazis). Vance knows this. And these vicious lies about Haitian immigrants spread from Nazis on Telegram and Gab to Donald Trump on the presidential stage in about a week or so. The extent to which the MAGA dominant right is picking up what Nazis are putting down... let's just say the need for proper antifascist research and action is not becoming any less urgent.

Today sucks.
While the sentence could have been a lot worse, Alissa Azar is a mom, a caretaker, a journalist, and a beloved community member. 14 days in a county jail that the prosecutor admitted was at full capacity is a gross injustice. As are the 36 months of probation and monitoring and restrictions of fundamental rights.
One of the most egregious sentencing guidelines stipulated that Azar, who has reported extensively on violent white supremacist mobilizations, cannot wear a helmet or ballistic vest during her coverage (standard equipment for journalists reporting from dangerous locations). When far-right figures have committed mass stabbings (Jeremy Christian) or fatal shootings (Benjamin Smith), safety measures like ballistic vests are vital protection.
It's bullshit and the judge's bias was clear.
Much love and solidarity to Alissa and everyone else who has sacrificed to expose and counter the rise of fascism

Getting back to reading Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series and the depth and beauty of it is just overwhelming.
Wish I had grown up with these books. I feel like every other paragraph I have to pause, meditate a bit and take it all in.
With all the garbage pop culture around magic from fuckshit bigot hacks like Rowling, I am profoundly grateful to Le Guin. Her writing resonates so hard; how I feel about nature and the goodness in this world... there's so much there that cuts so deep. If I had children I would read this to them on repeat.
