I’d say that looks like a lot of snow for Edmonton in one shot. I think we got less than that last week and it caused a couple days of chaos. :)

Yes but that is not what Trudeau, as far as I know, was proposing. I believe he was just aiming for ranked ballots on existing ridings. No MMP.
Perhaps he honestly wanted something better than that and ran into the Liberal Party apparatus wanting no part of it so tried for a compromise. I doubt we'll know until enough time has passed for him to write an honest autobiography. :/

I muted this one when I saw the linked post this morning. The forecast was quite wrong given it said a high of 1C and it was already 3C. I check the Environment Canada forecast and I think it said a high of 4 or 5.

I think bladed flat will be better for that cycle than what's going to happen when the mess on my street thaws and freezes. Right now it's soft and still pushes people around. When the uneven ruts are frozen it won't be good.
That said, it looks like we might just be into a full thaw for a week as the forecast lows are all above zero.

Sounds like they're doing a light blade on some neighbourhoods early. Tara on CBC this morning said they did her neighbourhood and I think she's in Queen Mary Park. For the drainage I know last year they had steam trucks clearing the drains in the spring. Hopefully they have something planned for this big warm spell.

Was struggling for a gift for my partner and in the end decided to use some windfall consulting cash to take her out to Rge Rd, which is just down the road from us, extremely amazing, but not at all cheap. As with the other times we've been there we went with the Road Trip with wine pairings where they bring us great foods and wine. As with the other times we've been there it was insanely good.

While the social media section is grabbing all the attention the request for names, email addresses, phone numbers, and addresses of all your immediate family members (parents, kids, spouse) plus a host of other personal information is extremely egregious too. I’m honestly less willing to give up my kids personal information than my social media, which is mostly public anyways.

A quick look at their site on this suggests it likely would be covered however I would wonder if BC would schedule you in in a reasonable time. Also, depending the cost of the test here, you may not save any money after travel expenses. I know someone who paid $300 for CT scan (likely wouldn’t save out of province) but $1500 for a PET scan.

I spoke with my partner about it as she's carried it and she says it's a proper weapon with nice balance and good heft. She also said the carvings are beautiful.
Thinking about it I also like that MacEwan, unlike most universities, has the mace carried by faculty rather than some high official.

MacEwan University's mace does have fairly special significance despite not being the traditional ornate mace most universities have.

What my job sometimes feels like. The reality, though, is that if this happens the UI isn't as simple and intuitive as you thought it was.
One thing I like about being an in house dev is being able to talk to my users directly so I can easily get feedback on what works and what doesn't. Still I sometimes find out they've been blowing tea out of teapot on some feature for years on something I could easily of changed for them.

I’m just not convinced this about tariffs rather than about improving their margins under cover of the trade disputes. I’d be surprised if alcohol is not covered by CUSMA and even if not they are still shipping a Canadian product to the US. It’s just going to be bottled there instead. If there are tariffs they’ll be paying them either way.

I don’t understand the first part of your comment. I’m not complaining about anything just stating my opinion on Carney’s handling of the trade issues with the US.
I would say I don’t think what he’s doing is the opposite of what he campaigned on. He’s defending our interests as much as possible. It has become clear that just stonewalling and escalating is going to do more harm than good though. So far we’re doing better than any other country in the world dealing with this mess.

I have a lot of complaints about the Carney government but his handling of the trade issues with the US is not one of them. I think he’s doing a decent job of rolling with the punches and minimizing how much damage the US tariffs will do.

Québec is a special case within Canada and they manage a number of programs within Québec that are otherwise handled federally. Immigration is one of those areas. They're also unique in law in that some things are French civil law and others are Canadian common law.

My partner has given assignments like that although I think the one she created was not that extensive. She did tell me most of the students came back astonished with how many errors the LLMs came back with.

One thing my partner has done in her classes is move to more hand written short answer exams/assignments. She also does them more frequently now. As an example she has them do regular "reflections" pieces where they have to write something on the most recent topic but tied to their own personal experiences.

Then they're just cowards. Senators, regardless of party or how they're appointed can vote how they please. They're not whipped nor can they be removed. Regardless of who or why they were appointed they are free to vote as they please.
At this point of the Senate is willing to roll over this easily I'm likely to join the camp to abolish them as they serve no useful purpose.

I don't understand what corner the Senate was painted into. Passing legislation is not about keeping the PM happy or keeping MPs happy. They chose to put forward the bill and if the bill has serious issues, as this one has, then the Senate could and should have taken action. The PM and the MPs need to face the consequences of their choices rather than just learn they can but through anything they like no matter how dangerous.
