most of this rhetoric is doing a disservice to their cause. It makes real issues seem incredibly shallow by equating any careless statement into violence, which in turns equates violence with a careless statement. If a reference from a comedy sketch from the 70s hurt you enough to fire a dude, it minimizes the punishment for SA under the hush that most corpos do (looking at you MrBeast)

erm, that may be because sqlite is open-source but not a community project. It is a company project, that is sold.

what I am telling you is that that very expectation is misguided. I have not found that memory safety significantly reduced the time required for a code review. It gives the expectation of a faster review, which makes people quit the review sooner than they should and miss critical things.

9 women do not make a baby in a month. Reviews do not work like that. While it definitely lowers the amount of bugs and raises code quality, it does not reduce the amount of required scrutiny. This is exactly why I despise the communication coming out of the Rust community and why I refuse to participate in it. Rust is no silver bullet for there is none. It makes the Rust community seem incredibly deceptive

okay, I have only one gripe with what you said. Code in Rust that compiles is memory safe, and that is mostly all of it. Yes it protects from 70% of subtle bugs, but it still requires the very same amount of maintenance and scrutiny
