Just did a depression marathon of Castlevania Nocturn. Watched the whole series front to back.
It is so well done. If you’re trying to adapt an action game to screen, this is how you do it.

Re: psx, jrpg, fmv, .mov problems.
:HoloWave: It looks like IRIX workstations used to have an SGI proprietary movieplayer app. And they used a .mv extension. My best guess is these mislabeled .MOV files are some variant of that.
:HoloNani: Western consumer OSes just see that and think "Oh Quicktime!" But QT was not available for IRIX. So it would make sense in those early years for platforms without QT to simply use the same extension since it just means 'movie'.
:HoloHmmm: If I get some extra time, it will be interesting to get an IRIX environment running and see if those files play natively there. My guess is yes.

I would rather spend $700 on a used Sharp X86000 to get bitmap graphics like this from a dual-disc drive than $700 for a PS5 Pro with no disc-drive. And I'm not kidding.

Alright, some praise for the people making OpenMSX. The display options are very nice. Just the ability to replicate an RGB connection does wonders.
Both the pixel accurate and RGB colors have their own charm. But I really love how much more warm and realistic the blurred effect looks.

Learning to get OpenMSX to launch games on my Mac has been quite an ordeal.
Always feel pretty chuffed to figure out why nothing works over the course of a couple days and accomplish what felt impossible at the start.
But its another case of ‘Its 2024, your documentation needs pictures.’ I’ve never been able to read the documentation of a project and understand anything.
It only thanks to people asking dumb questions on obscure message boards that I figure anything out.
