The whole system is encrypted and the two disks are decrypted at boot x3
Having it all on one disk was supported out of the box on Fedora, but I wanted to have /home on a separate disk since this laptop (now) has a 256GB boot SSD, then a 1TB SSD for /home

Took a bit to wrap my head around btrfs, but holy shit moving /home to another (encrypted) volume was so much easier than the bullshit I’ve done to get that working in LUKS + EXT4.

Mine was a Ryzen based Lenovo Tiny running Proxmox too. Pretty much all the VMs and the hypervisor would drop off the face of the earth, but it was so inconsistent that I couldn’t really trace it down.
Usually it wouldn’t do it at idle though, instead during high throughput it would just… disappear.
But yeah, an open standard would be nice for casting media… can’t cast from my de-googled OnePlus 8 Pro. :neofox_flop:

I was getting some wonkiness from the hardware where the host would randomly stop responding on the network or drop connections, but was clearly still running cause I could use my Zigbee switches to control things.
But yeah, Add-ons are wholly unsupported in the container version. The only one I was (kinda) using was AirCast, which can be replaced with AirConnect in a docker container too. :neofox_sip:

Surprisingly, it was only a bitch about the backup being from an older version of Home Assistant using keys value pairs that were deprecated. Once I nuked that, it pulled in my backup without issue and is way more responsive than it’s ever been in the VM I was using before.

Migrated the services I was running at home to docker containers running on Fedora CoreOS and the process was so smooth, holy fuck (well, except for Home Assistant briefly being a bitch).
It’s so weird not having containers fighting me for once.
Even using NFS bind mounts for persistent data for some of the containers. :neofox_sip:

Think I somehow managed to crash pipewire on my desktop. :neofox_blank:
Noticed the video capture in OBS broke, but didn’t pay it any mind because I just had it open and wasn’t streaming yet.
Then noticed audio wasn’t working either.
And maybe that was why my game wasn’t launching either since it couldn’t open an audio sink… :neofox_flop:

I started using Android on my T-Mobile G1 with Android 1.1. After it went EOL on 1.6, I downgraded it to 1.0 to root it. Apparently security was an afterthought in 1.0 and everything you typed went straight into a root shell.
So if you just typed reboot and hit enter, it would reboot. Oops

What email services do you all use for your mastodon instances?
Currently I have things set up with Azure Communication Services, which is free since I send at most a handful of emails a month. I don't really like that since my tenant doesn't have a high enough reputation, I'm forced to use DoNotReply@domain, plus I kinda wanna just kill off my Azure/Entra ID tenant entirely cause hella overkill.

Welp.
Nuked Windows off the 2TB SSD in my desktop and pulled the 1TB that I was using for NixOS.
And with that, my desktop is no longer running Windows at all in the first time in I don’t know how many years, if there was ever such a time. Certainly was never the case with *this* desktop. Don’t think it was ever the case with predecessor. Maybe my Pentium 4 desktop?

Mine is small enough to slip under the radar (otherwise it prolly would’ve got nixed for not having a clear written moderation policy), so I’d occasionally see a few posts pop up on my timeline.

I need to get around to setting up more rules for my personal mailbox(es), but I’ve done that with my work email and it’s been so great.
Even set up categories for Action Needed/Follow Up/Awaiting Response/Read Later and only have a handful of emails in my mailbox at a given moment, all labeled with what needs to be done with them.
