The Apple IIc to Imagewriter II cable seems to be almost as rare as hen's teeth. The ones that do come up on Ebay fetch stupid amounts of money for something that is relatively simple to make.
That said, I found these guys still making them commercially for a very decent price:

So.. 4 days after I wrote the post on depression, I ended up meeting someone special. We spent a month or so talking every night and she flew out to meet me in late February. Fast forward to mid-March, we're dating and very happy together. It's weird how things work out like that.
