I perfectly understand, myself went to Gnome only because of a need of wayland hi-res screens support at the time, was a xfce fan until then, so It was less a choice than a need.
what menu bars ? (kidding, I know, but look here : on right, the resource monitor 'forgot' to add one ;) usually there is one)

you may give #cosmic a try.
For me it's the right balance between gnome and kde, (options, but not too much), and best of mouse and keyboard navigation.

OpenSnitch is open front to back.
Maybe not as nice but has been doing the job for years.

funniest part is when you have automatic aliases (or catchall, whatever), when company "foobar" asks for my email and I say "foobar@somedomain" they tend to not believe it works :)

why link 'mint' and 'cinnamon' as if you could not choose another DE ? (even at install time - so even for beginner)
Same goes for many distros.

Are you sure of the figures / how are they computed.
The truth is horrible enough not to risk to say something wrong.
From https://www.worldometers.info/fr/
39 000 000 born this year already
Total population say 8 billions
With wolrd child mortality (under 5 y.o) more than 30 / 1000
https://donnees.banquemondiale.org/indicateur/SH.DYN.MORT
I think (but need to be contradicted) that the statement is not possible

A stupid question for [@COSMIC_desktop](https://fosstodon.org/@COSMIC_desktop ) @npub1mjj…a2m6 #cosmicDesktop : when using pop 22.04 , does installing cosmic-session bring the alpha version ? (Or else what should be done ?)
