It’s more than you think, and it’s more than just coffee. Most people purchase things and hemorrhage money at a rate that is unnecessary, even for enjoyment. The conditioning to spend money as a consumer is deep. Has compounding effects as well. It may not make a difference for buying a home, but it will definitely make a difference to DCA into something like bitcoin, which in theory will pay you in spades in the future. Yes, penny pinching can be overdone, don’t underestimate the power of saving though, even a cup of coffee a day.

To any beginners out there who need to hear this, coming from a fellow beginner:
Yes, it is worth learning about the protocol and the fundamentals of Bitcoin. From running a node, to understanding what a UTXO is, to what layer one and layer two are, to even lower level things like understanding what causes hard forks or consensus changes among nodes. These are all worth learning, especially if you think your future is at least somewhat made up of this technology.
There’s seem to be no other off ramps or life rafts for the sinking ship we are all currently on.
It’s going to be difficult, you’re going to likely feel small at times, keep going though.
You’re worth it, your future is worth it, your entire life is worth it. Keep going.

Obvious to us but not the majority of people unfortunately. They will likely only start looking at alternatives to Fiat once the system has already completely failed. They see a dollar and think “a dollar” not the fact that it’s lost 97% of its purchasing power in 100 years.
They understand inflation because it’s tangible, they don’t understand the debasement of a currency.

It says I do. I copied the address from my wallets extension (looked like an email).

Bitcoin has made me more technologically fluent. Before Bitcoin I could hardly manage the files on my computer. Now I’m using the terminal, running scripts, connecting networks, it’s been a stressful joyous process. Incredible what the motivation to be sovereign can bring.

Nostr is the breath of fresh air I was looking.
As a heavy Internet user, social media is something I had mostly abandoned aside from sporadic Twitter usage.
It always felt dirty, knowing that everything I post was logged & could be leveraged against me.
Knowing the account wasn’t mine, an existed mostly as a tool of surveillance and advertising metrics was undeniable.
Still is undeniable.
Noster feels authentic and real. Not to say that any particular post or person feels more authentic and real, the sheer experience feels more real. No advertisement, no black box algorithm, no manipulation to keep engagement.
Control has been returned to the user.
The concept of not your keys, not your content has brought me back with enthusiasm to connecting with all of you on a social media platform

I’m a newcomer, and not a technically savvy person. Learning the fundamentals of the protocol, and the technology is an uphill battle, but one that seems worse climbing.
From my narrow understanding, what I’ve gathered is that the amount of people contributing to mining process is more important receiving returns from the process.
The through line I’ve heard from people expressing this sentiment is that this helps secure the network through de-centralizing the mining process even more so, and not to expect any return. If anything expect to pay a fee and consider that as a small price for a securing the network further.
As I said before, I am not technically savvy. Before Bitcoin I had issue managing files let alone a seed phrase. I have not implemented any of these node mining protocols, or bip 110, currently running a standard mode on bitcoin core.
Would you mind explaining what you mean by “faulty” nodes? It sounds like you have a complete opposite opinion and I’m curious why that is as a newbie.
