That's a ton of work and it definitely looks awesome and makes your instance stand out.
Honestly, I didn't even know that this was possible because every other one that I have visited just rolls with the default theme so I was unaware that it was so heavily customizable.

Definitely! It's a lifelong favorite and insanely quotable film.
I remember as a kid, walking out of the theater and aspiring to be Casey Jones when I got older. 😂
Like Hugh Jackman as wolverine, Elias Koteas was so good as Casey that I really can't ever see anyone else playing him.

I have used Matrix on occasion for years but it's so hard to search for stuff and I never had any luck finding a video game group on there.

These days I don't know how much I would actually use this (Mastodon is more my jam) but its great to have options and you can definitely count on me to check in from time to time!

It's not terribly difficult to understand but It definitely takes a bit of education. It's part of what makes the Fediverse potentially so resilient and different from other services. I would argue that's more important now than ever.
In the past I actually convinced a couple of people to sign up for Mastodon & attempted to explain the importance of choosing a different server but in the end they opted to just go with .social because it was the biggest. Education is hard. LOL

I remember at one point they actually closed social to new sign ups to force people to join other instances.
I feel like they need to do this again or switch the default signup server to something else for at least a time.

It's been ages since I played The #Castlevania Adventure. It's not highly regarded but I have fond memories of playing it as a kid.
I just beat the DX color enhanced version & had a fun ~45 minutes
The pre-set jumping makes everything harder than it should be, controls are a bit sluggish and without savestates I would have given up on the Level 3 spike wall chase.
The game still has issues but this in one of the better ways to play.

The #Sega #Dreamcast #VMUPro from #8BitMods!
I loaded the available emulators onto the device.
Nofrendo = NES
SMSPlus = Master system and Game Gear
Gnuboy = Gameboy and Gameboy Color
They all have a great assortment of features. Image scaling, save states, etc. The Nofrendo emulator still needs some work. It suffers from some screen flickering and perhaps some mapper issues. Everything else runs great.
It's a cool novelty but results in seriously cramped hands.

You're not kidding about how time flies. My kids went from toddlers to teenagers in the blink of an eye.

I just came across MD Engine.
It lets you make compatible #Sega #MegaDrive #Genesis games with a drag and drop interface. No coding required!
Similar to GB Studio, hopefully this will usher in a wave of creative new games for the beloved Sega system.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on here?
I just installed #ElementaryOS 8 and was attempting to install #Firefox from the repo and it appears it wants to install a snap?
I know elementary OS has integrated #FlatPak support, which is great, but I would like to stay away from snaps if at all possible.
Instead, I installed Firefox from the EOS app store.
I'm no #Linux expert but what is snapd squashfs-tools that it wants to install?

Looks like LimitedRun and Edia are releasing #CosmicFantasy Collection 2 on the #Nintendo #Switch.
It contains games 3 and BOTH parts of 4.
I just hope this collection gets better treatment than the first. I still cannot believe that the known bugs present in the battles in CF1 were never patched.
It's disheartening to have to support a potentially subpar product just because it's probably the only way you'll ever get to experience it.

I bought the Warcraft bundle on #GOG yesterday and played a bit of #Warcraft II.
It still holds up. The only thing that bugged me was not having it in widescreen.
I found a widescreen patch on ModDB. Just download the files and drop them in the game folder and click yes to overwrite. It couldn't be simpler.

All my kids bikes currently have coaster brakes. They're familiar with those however, on a multi-speed bike I don't imagine they'll have them.
I didn't realize that you could have an internal gear hub on a non e-bike. That's pretty cool but sounds like it might be hard to get something with that under 200 bucks but at least now I know some of the nicer options to look for.

I'm wanting to get a decent sub $200.00 #bicycle for my oldest boy.
I'm looking at 24-in wheels and a multi-speed. I don't really care how many gears it is. I would also love to get one with something other than caliper brakes (hate them with a passion) but that might be asking too much for a sub $200 bicycle.
I'll mostly be looking at Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.
Are there any recommended brands or things I should look out for?

I programmed the full set of FRS, GMRS and MURS channels.
That way when we're camping, we can easily skip through to less populated channels and don't really have to worry about accidentally transmitting on some off frequency.
It worked out great when we went camping during the April eclipse earlier this year. FRS and GMRS were saturated but few people have MURS capable radios.
We switched over to those MURS frequencies and had it to ourselves the entire time we were there!

So far I have just used the software to create a uniform set of pre-selected channels that I wanted to use and labeled them with display names to make it easy for my kids.
Then I was able to apply it across all the radios.

Yeah! I bought a programming cable and watched a couple of videos on the CHIRP software and was surprised how easy it was. It was confusing at first but once you know what everything does it's actually pretty easy.
I haven't messed with it in probably two years but I would like to try it again and see if I can hit a local repeater for further reach. I haven't tried that yet.

I got it all from Amazon.
The battery is the USB C charging extended battery. Searching "BTECH BL-5L" should bring it up one with 7000+ reviews. You can find others selling some for cheaper but I wanted to make sure I got the real deal.
The antenna is a "Genuine Nagoya NA-771 15.6-Inch Whip." It should have over 18,000 reviews. They REALLY extend your range.

I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I had lots of good food and a great time with family.
Also, throughout the day my kid and I challenged each other to a few games of Worms. We actually play it quite a bit throughout the year.
However, with so many family members over we ended up having several four-player matches. This was a first and It was a ton of fun! Definitely made some long-lasting memories.

Oh absolutely! They completely disrupted the American market by packing so many features into a cheap low-end radio.
There are a lot of radio elitists that talk a lot of crap about the baofengs, but it does not change the fact that they are feature packed at a budget price.
They aren't perfect by any means and they have their share of issues but at their price point you cannot beat them.

I know you had talked about it before. I'm definitely going to look a bit more into getting one.
I think having a "variety" of ways to communicate will be essential moving forward and much like ham radio, infrastructure is not involved.
As long as you have a device and an antenna you can communicate assuming others are in reach.

Also, to help avoid confusion If you decide to order some, Btech is basically the US distribution arm of Baofeng.

I have several of the UV-5R and they excellent for the price. Probably the best bang for the buck. I have two of them and they're great.
Baofeng apparently does not make them anymore. So any that you find on Amazon I have heard are either old stock or bootlegs.
Baofeng's newest version of the UV5R is the BF-F8HP . I bought one of these last year and it's great too!
I have the optional extended USB- C battery and extended antenna equipped on each of mine.

For me, I want to get an Aventon Abound cargo bike and a new laptop.
As far as electronics "prepping", I have several shortwave radios & several Baofang walkie talkies but wouldn't mind having a few more Baofengs just in case.
A drone like you said.
Perhaps a bigger Jackery like battery station. I have a small one & two solar panels that can recharge it.
It's not electronics but a good portable water filter.
Also, I need to start spreading seeds doing some guerrilla gardening.

I would just like to get a general consensus on how long cartridges will last.
I have read some articles that mention cartridges up through N64 should last a lifetime if stored in decent conditions.
Some games will need their backup battery replaced but games stored on ROM should be reliable.
It sounds like most DS games are also ROM but the flash memory for saves will eventually wear out?
Switch and 3DS only use flash memory and I've read they are estimated for 20 to 40 years?

Is anyone extensively familiar with The #Exorcist 3?
The film has one of the most meticulously crafted and well executed jump scares ever put to film.
The murder happens off screen and afterwards the coroner details what happened.
When I was a kid I saw a cut of the film on Pay-Per-view where you actually SEE what happens.
This scene is not on the #DVD or the #bluray Legion Director's Cut. Does anyone know if it's on #VHS or #LaserDisc?

What are some games that have caused you to feel extreme bouts of loneliness?
Iron Angel of the Apocalypse on the #3DO is one game that hit me in such a way.
It's a strange, plodding, dystopian FPS. It's not a good game by any means but it's immersive audio and strange atmosphere kept me playing to the very end.
For several evenings I sat in the dark hunkered in front of an old CRT and felt very isolated, lonely and disconnected from the world.

I just finished watching the French #Horror series Marianne on #Netflix.
"When a famous horror writer goes back to her hometown, she finds out that the evil spirit that plagues her dreams is also there in real life."
Comprised of only 8 episodes, Marianne is a scary & thrilling series. There is nothing new here, & a few things don't quite add up but it's all done so well.
There is a solid mystery, plenty of scares & a fantastic cast. The direction & music is also top notch!

This is a game that I've had in my never-ending backlog for years.
I can't wait to finally have a serious go at it. I just know that I will love it. Turn out all the lights and sit in front of the glow of the TV and try not to scream. Haha!
I didn't realize that it came out before the analog controller, but I played enough games in that time that I think I would get used to controlling it with the d-pad.

On Mastodon, since there is no algorithm, hashtags are necessary for maximum exposure.
If you post about your new video then it will get pushed out to all of your 454 followers and the live feed.
But, if you also put some hashtags in your post it will get pushed out to 100s or even 1000s of other people that may not follow you but they do follow those hashtags.

I finally completed #PhantasyStar II! It took me 34 hours using the official easy mode ROM.
I feel very conflicted about this game. Some of its themes, ideas & mechanics were far ahead of their time but the overall design is firmly rooted in an older more archaic mindset.
The dungeon design was brutal. @npub1hd5…w78u nailed it with his assessment. They are Wizardry style dungeons but done with an overhead jrpg design.
This game screams for a remake.

I am about to call it quits. Dark Force is so unbelievably difficult.
I spent several hours grinding levels and still can't beat the boss.
It's made more difficult due to the fact that you can't see how much damage you're doing compared to other battles in the game.
I have no idea the effectiveness of my attacks so I don't know what characters to swap out in my party. 😮‍💨
Any ideas?

I'm about to enter the final dungeon in #PhantasyStar II.
Seeing as how when I played Phantasy Star 1 I used a single save file and screwed myself over when I accidentally sold some of the end game equipment and then saved my game.
I just wanted to make sure I'm doing this multiple save file thing correctly. 😂

Yeah. It was a card that slotted in the back of the Saturn. Not the cartridge slot but the one behind the clip/door on the back.
Yeah, I think some of the MPEG cards let you do this and I'm pretty sure there was a cheaper dedicated photo CD card.

I have had Fight'N Rage on my wishlist for years.
Right now it's 95% off on #Steam. At only $0.99 I finally decided to pick it up.
I regret not buying it sooner! It plays perfectly on the #SteamDeck and is the most fun I have had with a beat’em up since the 16-bit generation.

A staple of the genre.
Though, it doesn't look like these are optional. It seems like I have to do them whereas in the first Phantasy Star with its non-linear design it was completely skippable.

The Possessed - An absolutely gorgeous B&W giallo/noir hybrid. The cinematography, characters, music and story are top notch. An all time classic!
The Fifth Cord - Another gorgeous film with a great setup but I got confused due to all the characters and I'm not sure about the abrupt ending. Needs a rewatch.
The Pajama Girl Case - More of a detective story. Has some excellent misdirection and a cool dual story approach!

Not sure if you're aware or not but if you use the full URL and not a shortener (like youtu.be) it will display the video in your link.
But yeah, the game looks excellent and his skills have really improved since he started developing it. I always look forward to the updates. It's really interesting to hear the challenges that he faces and how he tackles them.
I can't wait for the final version!

After playing the surprisingly good port of Sim City 2000 I decided to check out another classic game on the #PocketPC.
#AgeofEmpires Gold Edition!
This is another top tier port. It's as good as one could reasonably hope for.
It has a ton of different modes to play, a familiar UI and the iconic music, sound effects and voices from it’s big #PC brother.
An excellent port!

Wow! I had no idea they came out with DC Overpower stuff.
I think when it came to my friend and I, the instructions were just very poorly written when the cards first came out. Like you say, It probably was a simple game to play but we just could not figure it out going strictly by the instructions.

I'm taking a break from work and video games today.
I'm going to watch our #Oklahoma river raft race.
Contestants build all sorts of ridiculous custom rafts and launch off a boat ramp in Sand Springs and float down the Arkansas River to a boat ramp in Tulsa.
Lots of food trucks and festivities. Even the weather is supposed to be decent!
I hope everyone else has a great Labor day as well!

Somehow I missed the news.
#Sega is working on an #EternalChampions movie!
I cannot emphasize just how much the Sega CD sequel shaped my teenage years. Hopefully they use this version as a basis and it retains the sadistic humor.
I'm sure it is going to be terrible. There's no way this can be good can it?

When it comes to a #PocketPC or #PDA I use them *mostly* for their calendar, task lists and overall organizational and productivity features.
I do love checking out some of the #Games though. #SimCity 2000 is a fantastic port of the #PC classic.
The screen is a tad cramped but they did an excellent job with the UI. The graphics the music the gameplay it's all here!

I enjoy slasher films. They are a guilty pleasure and you usually know what you are going to get.
There are absolutely some gems the genre has given us but the Italian #Giallo that inspired the slasher are on a whole other level of greatness.
I love them all though. I don't discriminate.
