Every time I type "I'm sorry," it is fine, but if I type "I'm so sorry," autocorrect changes it to "I'm so dirty."
I've caught it every time before submitting the post, but one of these days I'm not going to catch it, and my response to someone's bad situation is going to be "I'm so dirty." I'm sure that won't offend anyone or make things worse for them in that moment.

Since my timeline is full of people complaining about search engines again, I think it's time for to me to remind everyone...
Ecosia works like Google did a decade ago. What little AI it does have is sandboxed and does not impact the traditional web search. Every time I search for what I need, the correct result is on page 1, just like Google used to be.
Don't like the AI that Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and others have been infected by? Try Ecosia! Worst case, you lose five minutes of your life.

I just reached out to the four people on Facebook who I do not have alternate contact info for. I told them I will be closing my account in a few days and gave them my contact information.
Within five minutes they all replied with their contact information. I'll be informing my D&D group tomorrow during our game. Friday, I'll deactivate.

My mother used my credit line fraudulently. Somehow it was permitted to put things like phone bills on a minor's credit. This destroyed my credit before I was an adult. At 19 I had a vehicle breakdown and only had $1,000, not enough to fix or replace it. I tried to get a loan, but was denied. I went to six or seven banks before someone was kind enough to tell me they couldn't give out a loan to someone with such a bad credit history. When I asked how people my age normally get credit, she said people my age usually have a blank slate, not dozens of delinquencies over the course of many years. At that moment, I became aware of the underlying problem.
The credit bureau resolved the issue when I reported mom's fraud, but at that point all the inquiries from me trying to get a loan counted against me just enough that I still couldn't get one even after correcting my credit issues.
So yes, we are tainted financially. I started my adult life with bad credit. It has cost me in higher interest rates. It set me back in a highly competitive society. It probably cost me jobs as well.
Starting life with horrible credit in a society that runs on credit is one of the worst things a mother can do to a child.
Did anything happen to her? Nope. She got to live the rest of her life like normal.

I've had people upset with me for not cycling. Ignoring my disabilities making that hard, the roads are so worn that there are no shoulders. There are no protected bike lanes and very few unprotected ones. Too many drivers actively try to buzz cyclists putting their lives at risk because the drivers think they own the road and see anyone outside of a motorized vehicle as inferior and less than human.
Cycling in this area is actively unsafe. Without infrastructure, I am not taking the risk, even if I could get healthy enough to cycle the 20 miles round trip to run errands. I can barely make that drive at this point.
I am very pro-cycling, but I'm not about to berate people who can't do it safely because of infrastructure issues.
Fedi has a subsection of toxic optimist activists who have no idea they are doing more harm than good, and nothing I say is going to change their feelings on that.

Not to my knowledge. The biggest issues were things in frame which shouldn't have been because of the switch to widescreen. Visual filters and colors were changed a great deal as well. Some of the darker scenes are much lighter, which would be fine if the reason for the darkness was production related, but it's a story about vampires. It was meant to be dark!

I can't cook small meals for precisely this reason. Unless I'm 100% certain I'm only cooking for myself, I make enough where there's leftovers for days.
Given the mental effort and focus cooking requires, I'm thrilled to both have enough if unexpected guests arrive and have enough to last me for days if I don't want to cook.
Plus, chili is one of those foods that loses no quality from being reheated.

I am not in any way suggesting you give up on Windows, but that bullshit is why I personally moved to Linux. I was perfectly happy on Windows 7 Pro. It was rock solid, did everything I needed, and had none of this overreach. Windows 8 made me lose faith in Windows. Windows 10 made me lose more. I tried 11, and I hate it even more.
I wish corporations actually cared about making products the way users want them to be.

Body cams should have worked, but giving them the ability to turn them off was the first mistake. The second was not making every minute of police footage freely available to the public at all times.
This was meant to provide accountability. Unfortunately, those meant to enforce this failed miserably in holding officers accountable for their actions.

Here is an exhaustive list of races of people who have caused me direct harm in my lifetime.
1. White people, mostly men.
That's it. A black person has never harmed me. A hispanic person has never harmed me. An asian person has never harmed me. A pacific islander has never harmed me. The list goes on and on.
99% of the people in my life who have harmed me looked similar to me. The other 1% were the rare abusive women my father was attracted to.
Guess which people helped me the most in life? Women, queer people, and BIPOC. Somehow, despite spending most of my life in mostly cishet white "Christian' environments, the kindest people did not look like me. I'm so thankful the internet and social media proliferated. I don't dare think of the person I could have become were it not for the diverse collective of people I'm connected to.

In a capitalist society, all behavior is financially incentivized. Since ethically dubious behavior creates profit more quickly than more ethical behavior, people will continue to lean that way. In a world where a bigger company can put you out of business quickly, new business owners can't risk playing the long game, even the small businesses which often try to be ethical.
As an example, my behaviors are more maliciously capitalist in recent years despite my disdain for the system. It needs to change, but I need to survive within the system if I am to have any hope to help change it. So, I use tax loopholes and any other Lawful Evil behavior which keeps a roof over my children's heads and helps me meet my medical needs (albeit poorly).
The most damning part of capitalism is how most people have to compromise their morals to survive in it. It would be one thing if we could bow out and live with like minded individuals, but capitalism is a plague which follows us everywhere. Capitalism will continue to be the de facto economic structure of the world so long as the biggest world powers benefit from it.

It appears to be time for me to start reconnecting with people. With my memory issues, remembering people's handles is nearly impossible, even people I've known for many years.
But first, it's becoming clear I owe some apologies for disappearing the way I did. I was in a very bad place emotionally and psychologically. There was an exceptional amount of confusion on my end. I was at a complete loss, and much like every other period in my life, I was unable to get the professional help I needed.
I truly believed my absence would go unnoticed. That's on me. In meatspace, I struggle to interpret how others feel about me. In cyberspace, I struggle with this even further. I am almost never correct about how I am valued by someone else. Because of this, I genuinely believed my absence would have no effect on anyone else.
It was made clear I was completely incorrect. For that enormous mistake, I genuinely apologize.
