I sound like a mad conspiracy theorist: If you were president, and trying to set yourself up to never leave office, and to compromise midterms, you might want to, say, gather the entire White House press corps into a room in the hotel Regan got shot outside of for an event you normally never go to and have the USSS aim guns at them to help them understand the consequences for crossing you.
I hate I can’t believe this admin at all. I hate that they have earned our mistrust this far.

Obama negotiates JCPOA w/Iran: partly unfreezes $2 billion Iran cash to get rid of uranium. Strait is open, international waters.
President Rottinghands McRagebaby tears up JCPOA, spends billions, gets people killed, then gives Iran _10x_ ($20 billion) to get uranium back to JCPOA levels, and Iran claims some of control over Strait.
An almost unimaginable failure: militarily, economically, navigationally, morally, politically; made things worse for US in every way possible.

The state of Montana sent violence to Washington DC in the form of wanna-be-Capitol-policeman Senator Sheehy.
As an American, I am ashamed of Montana, the Senator and (for once again bringing violence to the US Capitol) the GOP.
The country, Montana and our veterans deserve better.
No Senator should try to do the job of the US Capitol police. Breaking a USMC vet's arm is a vile act by Sheehy.
Sheehy denigrates the Senate and debases himself with violence.

silly question since I am asking way beyond my own knowledge: is there any way to defensively program such that the software won’t crash when bad memory does a bit flip? Like any way to write the code to have a more graceful failure mode?
I realize this might be an astoundingly foolish question, and/or might require a defensive programming paradigm that no only diverges from norms but may be unfamiliar/inaccessible to standard coders.

In 2008, I was on a panel about social media and movies/film. The missteps, known then as they were being taken, that lead to the diminished value and damaging mergers (AT&T hollowing out WB, Disney overextending on Fox, etc., etc.) were all visible, and yet the incentives toward them remained.

No, not the premise of a dystopian movie, it is a statement from the US Department of State from about 3 hours ago. They go on to designate 4 seemingly random groups as part of the vast and imaginary international antifa network as foreign terror organizations:

"[Target] has a new directive for store employees: If a shopper comes within 10 feet of you…smile, make eye contact and greet or wave. If…within four feet — ask whether they need help or how their day is going…"
If shopper comes within 1 foot, store employees must kiss them, gently. If within 2 inches, then the employee must propose, perform and consummate a marriage to the customer.
Bigots are gonna try to deflect while going more broke.

How many enemies dreamt of destroying the White House. How many soldiers wished they could flatten it. How many generals fantasized about razing the American People’s house.
This one man beat them all. Same man brought the confederate flag into the Capitol, same man presides over the largest tax hike in history (tariffs are import taxes), signed off on the ending of nutrition for the hungry and end healthcare since it will now be unaffordable.
This. One. Man.

it is complicated. Very.
Brute forcing as an innovation tactic (adding processors, data centers, etc.) is only one possible path, and it has clear downsides: it’s expensive.
I feel like too few companies took DeepSeek’s method last year as a serious option.
And so there’s this too, again suggesting the brute force method is not the only viable one:

I think there’s a real possibility that local, running on consumer electronic devices, generative AI without the need for expensive processors, data centers, massive amounts of water and electricity may well be the actual long term way forward for generative AIs like LLM, image and video generators.
