In the end this #Metroid title couldn't deliver what I expected. Nintendo decided against the continuation of the successful and challenging Metroid (Prime) formula and provided a casual and action-heavy gameplay experience that may attract new players but disappoint fans of the series. 👎

Did you consider the parts apart from the escape sequences as cozy? I was more annoyed by the difficulty of the normal parts of the game than by the time-pressure parts. 😅

There is a demo for Ori on Switch if you want to test it. I played the demo to get an impression before I bought the retail collection of both Ori titles.

Recently I finished my offstream 100%-playthrough of Ori and the Blind Forest on Switch 2. 🎮
I consider myself an experienced Metroidvania-player and therefore played on hard difficulty. In the end I was facing a tough platformer and more than 1,800 deaths during the playthrough. 🪦

Got all the 7 Chaos Emeralds and therefore the good ending with Super Sonic in Sonic 2 on Mega Drive. 🦔💨
That was quite a grind learning all these special stages for the Chaos Emeralds.
You are "rewarded" afterwards with becoming invincible Super Sonic every 50 rings, but what should be an advantage is actually an disadvantage because Super Sonic is hard to control and you can't get any further continues by collecting 100 rings... 😪

First I set up a monthly donation to them like I do with every #FOSS I regularly use to show my appreciation and support the continuous development. 🙏

Things moving quickly now. 😃
Don't know how, but somehow I just managed to do a short test stream on my self hosted #Owncast server.
After all the issues I had during the last days with my #RaspberryPi and my Internet Service Provider to get my server running , it was so invigorating to set up Owncast with such ease.
Thanks @npub1lm6…wvr4 for the great software and the easy to follow documentation.
Didn't expect the installation being that easy. 👌

...figuring out what to request specifically I reached out for my ISP and they luckily could provide me with everything I needed and even unlocked it within one hour only.
I used this telephone call to also upgrade my upload bandwidth to 50 Mbit/s, what should give me the opportunity to host some more traffic intense services on my home server and therefore don't need to outsource this to a #VPS.
It's strenuous but I am sure the resulting opportunities will be rewarding.

The last three days I spent every free minute for getting deeper into the #selfhosting topic I never dealt with before.
And this seems necessary as there is so much to learn, understand and troubleshoot:
After finally being able to flash the SD card for the #RaspberryPi, I had to realize that my Internet Service Provider doesn't provide me with Dual Stack. That means no individual IPv4 address, no port forwarding, no bridge mode and therefore no access to my server from the outside.

1 of 12 is the overall Mega Drive/Genesis classic Sonic the Hedgehog. 🦔
With 15 million units sold it's the best selling Mega Drive game of all time, also because it was often bundled with the console. 📈
I had to change the game case's cover due to water stain and the instructions booklet due to cigarette smell. Luckily I still had replacements for these parts and therefore now honorable conditions. 🌟

The 72 Pin Connector is the Achilles' heel of the NES. It connects the game module with the consoles board.
After all those years the pins are filthy and worn out, what leads to insufficient contact between the module and the console and therefore a black screen when playing. 💔
Found some advice about cooking the connector in boiling water, what cleans and adjusts the pins to their original position. 💧
Worked perfectly in my case, but copy at your own risk. ⚠️

For this marketing campaign Sega made use of the so called "irritation" strategy.
First step was causing this irritation by advertising the "Wo ist mein SEGA?" lettering and Sonic on public posters and TV commercials. 📺
Viewers got confused but also curious about what "SEGA" and the illustrated character mean. 🤔
The Mega Drive and Sonic game was then revealed via further, more concrete TV commercials during the upcoming months. ❗

A cool little gimmick coming with the Mega Drive package were these four Sonic stickers stating "Wo ist mein SEGA?", engl. "Where is my SEGA?". 🦔
They were part of a Sega marketing campaign in Germany and Greece from 1992, mainly consisting of posters, TV and radio advertisements. 📺
The marketing campaign was focused on introducing Sega to the German people because the company wasn't widely known as a game manufacturer at this time.

Yesterday I finished my Super Mario Galaxy 120 stars Mario playthrough. Still want to go for the real 💯 % completion by also play through the game with Luigi and therefore collect all 242 stars. 💫
This game is so awesome, surely one of the best 3D platformer I ever played. I play the game using the Wii Classic Pro Controller without motion controls on original Wii. There is a hack that makes this possible, also for Super Mario Galaxy 2. 🎮

Soldering skills are improving. 🧰
I finished my second 60 Hz mod on a #Sega Mega Drive.
This Mega Drive has the "High Definition Graphics • Stereo Sound" lettering above the cartridge slot and looks better in general, that's why I wanted to replace the current #MegaDrive in my collection. 🔄
The ones with the external port are harder to mod because there is not much space left to mount the switch. Gave me some headache but in the end it worked out. 💪

Today I started into Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole on Mega Drive/Genesis. ⚔️
Made it trough the first bigger dungeon and really enjoyed the game so far. ⛰️
It's quite challenging from fighting and riddling perspective but also looks great and gives me a lot of the classic Zelda vibes.

Yesterday I finished my first playthrough of #ResidentEvil 3 on PS1. 🏁
Checked the guide for the game from my collection afterwards and realized that the game offers a lot of replayability and there is quite some stuff you could miss. 📘
I went for hard difficulty, and considering the information from the guide that's the intended difficulty as the easy option removes a lot of the series' established techniques. ❌

I'm quite lucky with having a copy of Mortal Kombat Armageddon for Wii here in Germany as this game was put on the index after its release in 2007. 🚫
They removed it from the List of Media Harmful to Young People in May 2023, but it is still hard to find. 🔍
Reasons for the indexing were that the game invites the player to destroy humans and human like creatures, the detailed violence, the "martial" fatalities and more. 👊🩸

Yeah, considering the time in between these two consoles, there have been some developments that conceal similarities. But I think it is still detectable that there have been inspirations for the Dreamcast controller from the SNES one.
Btw, the SNES controller from the picture is an official one. These are the ones we received in Europe. They have the four color action buttons. The buttons are also all convex, instead of the two convex and two concave from the US version.

Yesterday SM64 speedrunner Suigi achieved another unbelievable milestone for his legacy. He got the 120 ⭐ WR with a time of 1:35:33h, lowering his PB by 1m 27s minutes and the WR by 29s. 🏆
Once again he now has the WR in 4 of the 5 categories (0, 1, 16, 70, 120 ⭐), only missing the 70 ⭐ category yet.
He was at this stage a year before, only missing the 120 ⭐ WR he got now.

I'm three hours now in my first playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy on Wii and the patch for Classic Controller Support obviously makes an already awesome game even more enjoyable. 👌
The replacement of the movement controls by the right analog stick works out very fine so far and seems well implemented. 🕹️
In the game I especially like the extra challenges forcing you to collect some of the stars in a specific amount of time or reduced HP. ⏱️

Someone made a patch for Super Mario Galaxy to control it with a #Wii Classic (Pro) Controller and therefore get rid of the motion controls. 👋
The aiming originally done by pointing with the Wii Remote is now replaced by the right analog stick of the Classic Controller. 🕹️
The patch is used via the homebrew Riivolution, an on-the-fly game patcher for use with retail discs on the Wii. 💿
So yeah, I think I have found my next 💯% completion game. 🤩

I had quite a nice gaming experience in the last days. 💭
After finishing #Metroid Prime casually with 78% completion I step by step went for 100% item collection using a guide and watching a 6! hours YouTube documentary about Prime's #speedrun history. 🌌
Both brought me so much closer to the games lore and made me understand why the game is considered a timeless masterpiece. 🪐

This morning I could lower my PB in Turtles III for Game Boy by more than one minute and achieved a sub 33. ⏱️
I am getting more an more confident in the boss fights, going for more risky strats to continuously lower my time. There is still much room for improvement and I think a sub 30 is realistic. 💪

Luckily this could be solved easily. ✔️
I recognized that the issue only came up by moving explicitly one of the four batteries. Looking at the contacts for this battery I saw that there was slight corrosion. I couldn't remove the corrosion but replace the contacts plate with one from a different non functioning Game Boy. 🔁
This Game Boy now runs flawlessly too. 👌

This morning I took care of some Game Boy loot on stream.
I updated my stream setup so we could instantly check and play the games refurbished before live on stream.
I refurbished two Game Boys. One of them works fine but the second one has an issue: There seems to be some kind of defective contact related to the power supply from the batteries. Every time the batteries are slightly touched, the #GameBoy turns off.
