Its the deliberate lies that piss me off the most, the consciously deceptive framing. All the Labour front bench will have been briefed about the Maccabi fans. They will know about their violence, glorification of genocide and regular chants that Arabs die.
Instead they make it about "Jews" being victims. Its both a deliberate deception and running cover for a genocidal Jewish faction.

So the BBC and seemingly every politician asked in the UK (aside from Green party ones) is treating the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from a game with Aston Villa in a residential part of Birmingham as a matter of "antisemitism". It is presented as being they who are the victims. The BBC carries zero reporting of the Maccabi fans' chants or actions and all the stuff in Amsterdam is reported as "both sides" stuff. It is simply a case of them being discriminated against which the govt are pressuring the relevant authorities to now reverse.

A CAPITALISM STORY
"A signature event of [the mid-seventeenth century] might be the new English republic's action to end the activities of the Diggers on George's Hill in which the state propagated a military intervention on behalf of private property. Its interesting that, retrospectively, [we may] see this as a matter of "the commons or slavery" but, of course, [we] are right to do so. If one has "commons" then one can subsist based on one's own labour without need for wealth. One life, as a matter of something that exists at a subsistence level, requires only the resources you have to hand and can maintain for yourself. People did this worldwide for centuries, millennia, in fact. But enclosure, private acquisition of land and wealth and the desire to produce more, made this increasingly impossible. Put very simply, if you don't have land to survive upon, if your access to basic resources is blocked by force, then your survival is put into the hands of others and you are made reliant upon them. This was exactly the issue as the Diggers saw it. Gerrard Winstanley then "opposed slavery, dispossession, the destruction of the commons, poverty, wage labour, private property, and the death penalty." His plan was an urging of the "common people" to take their lives into their own hands, before it was too late, on common land. The State saw his ploy for what it was, however, and stamped it out definitively before it could go too far. As Winstanley saw it, the problem was simple: "The teeth of all nations hath been set on edge by this sour grape, the covetous murdering sword." As a consequence, he advocated for a worldwide proto-communism which even Lenin would later recognise as such."

HILLSBOROUGH
36 years ago today I set out for a football match in Sheffield. There was a great atmosphere when I got there and both sets of fans were confident. The game kicked off on time at 3pm and my team, Nottingham Forest, started well with several attacks.
But something was obviously wrong because Liverpool fans behind the goal Forest were attacking were spilling onto the pitch. At the opposite end, where I was, we had no clue why. Then the game was stopped after just six minutes. We all stood there, watching, as people were being dragged from the stand whilst others tried to escape to the sides and others even by being pulled up to the level above. Some of those were alright but others clearly were not. Some had clearly been injured or even worse. Advertising boards were being used as makeshift stretchers to carry people, some of them now just bodies, down to the Forest end of the ground where they were set down. I personally, and many around me, became numb. How could you die from watching a football match? It was too much to take.
When they eventually let us out literally every fan walked back to the railway station in silence. No one knew exactly what had occurred. By the time I was on the platform waiting for a train there were rumours of the numbers that had died but no one was sure.
In haste, sometimes stupid and sometimes evil things were said. Thatcher's Tories and the Sheffield cops - whose entire job was public safety and which that day was incompetently done - tried to blame the Liverpool fans. Rupert Murdoch's Sun newspaper, then edited by the odious Kelvin MacKenzie, made up lies about them. The tragedy was, simply put, entirely created by the Sheffield police and their lax approach to fan safety. Their incompetence and aggressive attitude to football fans literally killed people.
It changed football forever too for thereafter football safety was changed and all-seater stadiums mandated. I myself, as my own response to the avoidable tragedy, became part of the safety staff at Forest for the next ten years. I felt that I had to play my part in helping to keep people safe.
I learned many things that day and because of the aftermath. That Tories and cops don't care and are cavalier with other people's lives being only one of the things.
But today is not about them. It is about remembering the 97 ordinary men, women and children who lost their lives simply supporting their team.
You'll never walk alone.

The UK Online Safety Act, currently active UK law, polices websites WORLDWIDE sharing sexual content accessible by UK users. It is an act that was pushed by all the usual "think of the children" type people and is backed by authoritarian snoopers everywhere.
Under the legislation propagated under this act you may be prosecuted if your site (which could even be a sexual health site or a Mastodon instance) allows access to visual or audio sexual material (what's "sexual"?) if UK users can access it without a robust enough check of their adulthood.
But if you write the filthiest and most degrading sex story that is far more potentially harmful than simply seeing or hearing sex and a ten year old child reads it online NOTHING WILL BE DONE because text is not within the scope of the Act!
PS as far as I am aware, a simple VPN, some of which are free, entirely defeats the measures Ofcom, the policing authority, expects website owners to take to be in compliance with the Act. This is, obviously, an entirely farcical situation.

NIHILISM is the belief that life, existence itself, has no ultimate, cosmic or eternal meaning or significance. From this perspective, it is, thus, a void.
Consequently, it would follow that reality has no truth or morality of its own, that it cannot, and does not, speak for itself and that, as a further consequence, that it cannot, and does not, care.
As a result, there are those who despise both nihilism and nihilists because they believe that if nihilism is true then there is nothing to stop someone becoming a Nazi, a terrorist or in general leading both terrible and destructive lives.
Nihilism, then, is ultimately the view that life must be lived without ultimate grounds or foundations, that such things, where they exist, are pure invention.
This, I believe, makes it politically interesting.
