I'm still a wee bit sketchy about the ins and outs of instances, and how to move to a different one, or if that would be desirable.
I understand Mastodon.social is lax on the moderation and liable to be blocked.
I've no idea how to choose an alternative, or if it would be a good idea? I'm presuming followers/followed go with you?
Any advice for a relative fediverse novice would be greatly appreciated!

After a few days here I'm really happy with my decision.
It feels a much more supportive and encouraging place. It also feels less passive, as if we're shaping our own community not having it moulded by algorithms or owners.
My original intention was to leave my X account with a link here but I think even doing that means some form of accommodation with the platform and what it stands for. So I went on today to deactivate.
I'm so glad there's an alternative with a very different ethos.

My gran bought a classic Parker Knoll egg chair in the early 1960s. My parents inherited it in the 1970s and had it reupholstered in the 80s.
They passed it on to us when we bought our first house in the late 90s. It's been looking very jaded and has lived under throws for decades.
I've finally got round to having it reupholstered and it was delivered home this evening. I'm really happy with the results.
It's the chair I learned to read in sat on my mum's knee after being a reluctant reader.

Completely exhausted by the degenerate state of Muskworld so giving Mastodon a try. I'm currently a copywriter based in Cornwall. In September, I'm starting a PhD project at Falmouth University exploring the relationship between autism and crime fiction alongside a creative element developing a Cornish crime novel featuring an autistic detective
