Probably not 100% of the time, given the pressure on them, which is clearly dangerous. I wish they would just staff the system adequately.

@nprofile…fh5u back in 2018 I wrote to a city councillor to oppose online voting when a trial was being considered, and I feel like everything I said then applies today...
"I hope that everyone with any say in changes to the electoral process does the research to find out how impossible it would be to make an online system meet all the standards required to maintain electoral integrity and voter trust in the system.

I understand that there are difficulties with the cost and reliability of postal ballots, but there must be other ways to mitigate those problems without undermining the system.
I also disagree with the theory that it would increase voter participation. The low turnout for local body elections is about lack of engagement, not difficulty in making our votes. I don't have an answer for how to increase engagement, but I'm very sure online voting is not it. [Less engagement, more like.] Look at the 2018 census - the first one done online, with a lower turnout than expected.
Some may think that nobody would bother to rig local body elections. But for the "right" people it could be worth doing. Here's a scenario: a group with extremely deep pockets get themselves or their friends elected by interfering with the voting system, and while they are on the council they vote for policies that result in consents being granted to clear-fell the town belt and sell all the land to developers dirt-cheap. (That may not be possible within current regulatory framework; I'm just trying to make a point that local body elections could be considered worth rigging by villains.)
Whatever voting system is trialled at the local level, if deemed successful, would be likely to be adopted at a national level. And that's where things get very scary indeed."

@nprofile…fwwf @nprofile…59ss the first and second (lifetime) doses of the vaccine seem to be free for everyone now due to the outbreak, I was given it at a pharmacy last week when I told them my plunket book proved I'd only had one dose. Maybe the pharmacy would say something different from the GP?

The endless parade of legislative proposals trying to make things worse for Aotearoa and better for multinational corporations and billionaires is exhausting!
I found out today -thanks to a newsletter from #MelanieNelson - that submissions on a bill to water down protections around overseas investments are closing at the end of Wednesday. So have just whipped off a quick opposition to it.

"We would like to inform you that one of the Madison sheet set came in faulty batch for that instance we have advise you to dispose the product and we have informed the get in touch with the Shore city store for the refund. We advise you to show store this email and they will be able to help you."
I can't do that as I'm in Wellington & they're not allowed to email customers, but I've just had a chat with them & they will look into it for me 🤞🏻

I'm putting the sheets through another wash now and if that doesn't help will try spraying with De-Solv-It and washing again, while I wait for BB&T to get back to me.

Bought these lovely looking flannelette sheets a few months ago: https://www.bedbathntable.co.nz/madison-brick-tan-check-010101 - only just got round to washing them yesterday & have been horrified by the stench once they got wet. The sheets and my washing machine reek like petrol!! A second wash didn't help at all. Wondering if I should try putting baking soda in the machine but not sure that's a good idea, so have written to their website asking advice & warning I'll be looking for a refund if I can't get rid of the stink 🙁
