This might sound harsh, but it’s honestly what I believe. If you don’t want to vote for Trump, I get it. He’s a douche, and he presided over lockdowns, green lighted the mRNA and didn’t do shit against the deep state despite his many promises to the contrary.
But if you are voting for Kamala Harris, at best you simply have no idea how the world works, and/or are not paying attention. I cannot take you seriously in the worldview domain. You are disqualified IMO if you are voting for her. (And it’s not really her you are voting for since she’s obviously an NPC, but google, the military, pharmaceutical and censorship industrial complexes, the corporate media, the WEF, etc.)
I’m not saying my attitude is the “correct” one to have, and I wish no ill on those who I deem to have a worthless and unconsidered worldview, but it’s just truthfully what I believe. If you advocate for her, I think you are totally uninformed and willfully so at this point. I think you are epistemically derelict.
And I am not the only one. But the consequences of your advocacy for something I find so obviously and transparently abhorrent are merely that. A diminished view, a loss of respect for your judgment by me. I would never advocate for silencing you, censoring you or punishing you in any way for your political views.

IRS owes me a refund from 2022. Finally sent out the check in June of 2023. Still haven’t gotten it.
Called them up. Automated menus. Then finally waited on hold for 20 minutes after pressing random buttons, got a guy, wrong department. He transfers me. Another 25 minutes, get a woman.
She’s mumbling, can’t tell what the hell she Is saying, ask her to speak up, she refuses, says she’s speaking as loudly as she’s going to.
She says we can put a trace on the refund check if I want. I ask what does that do. More unintelligible mumbling. I ask what if the check arrives in two more weeks, and the trace is on, does that require me to do anything? More mumbling about forms, matching signatures and something else.
I get annoyed, say I can’t really hear you and can’t decide whether to put the trace on it because I don’t understand the consequences. It’s been 15 months since I filed for the refund (and paid my accountant an extra $400), and I’m getting frustrated.
When I’m done talking the call is still connected, but no response. Hello. Hello? Hello!!! Still connected, no response for another minute, and I hang up, figure hopefully that shit will just arrive in the next month or so since I’m overseas, and it takes a while.
No idea if she put the trace on it or not, but doubtful because I didn’t tell her too.
Get your money out of the system to the greatest extent practicable. It’s falling apart.

Had a paranoid thought just now while driving back from the butcher. (Stocked up on a lot of shit): was thinking about Roger Stone’s claim that CNN never covers Trump’s rallies, but had a high-priced freelance photographer present for the one where he was shot.
The obvious inference is that the deep state of which CNN is a part knew what was going to happen and were ready to document and put their spin on it.
But how would having the exact photos help them if the assassination were successful? IOW, if he were killed, what good would it do to have up close photos of the event, rather than just a bunch of cellphone videos?
On the other hand, those photos make Trump look like a hero, the way he stood up and yelled fight.
So the paranoid thought was, what if Trump and CNN are in on it together, and it’s all kayfabe? That the choice in the election seems so obvious (taxes on unrealized gains? FFS?) because they want you to be relieved if he gets elected. They want you to be on board with whatever they’re planning next, so they set you up to worry about some communist, and you get something else bad.
As I said, it’s probably just a paranoid thought, but the last time I felt the choice was this obvious was Obama/McCain, and in retrospect, I got duped. (Not that McCain would have been any better, just that I had no idea what Obama was at the time.)

Beef is indeed world class. Never made it to Patagonia, but by all accounts well worth it. Food is more expensive than It used to be, especially in nice restaurants, but the regular places are about half of what it would cost in the states.

We were in a resort, two hours outside of Mendoza for nine days (partly due to my wife’s work event) and then in Buenos Aires for five days. Trip was really good. The resort was comped and very high end, but the highlight was going up into the Andes and letting my daughter play in the snow.
Buenos Aires is a beautiful city — very cosmopolitan, looks like New York in places, but without the insane prices. People are very nice. Used to have a lot of crime, but seemed safer this time.

Right you always start with common ground and build from there. I think it’s easy to write everyone off as brainwashed or whatever, but I think only 10-20 percent are truly brainwashed, and most people are just responding to incentives which are changeable. Even better is if it dawns on them that the highest incentive is to sense-make for oneself.

My strategy is to push in the other direction, make them realize they are making a bad bet. Often when I eat a piece of fruit, I toss the pit into a pot of dirt on my balcony. I mean why not — it’ll break down into nutrients for the soil eventually, and occasionally one of them grows into a plant.
When I first started doing this, I often mistook weeds for potential fruit plants, but now I know which common weeds grow here and root them out.

Finally back home in Lisbon after two weeks in Argentina, took the 12th and final flight of the last two months back from Madrid.
If it weren’t for my wife, I’d probably still be planted on my sofa in LA — I’m an ideas guy, I don’t *do* shit.
And yet, it was my idea to go to Argentina and also to drive through the south of the US this summer.
Portugal is a nice place, but they are beholden to the EU, which is up to no good. If things go south, you want to have some outs.
This is essentially the thesis of The Sovereign Individual — that jurisdictions that treat people poorly will lose those people, are while the backlash from the now-powerful ones will be ugly, they will ultimately lose that battle and have to capitulate once people start exiting en masse.
We’re not leaving here imminently, but if it went bad, Buenos Aires is an amazing city, the people are kind and there seems to be a (very tempered) hope that things are turning around, even though they’re struggling as Millei seems to be facing reality rather than printing them into more debt.

At a resort in Argentina, woke up middle of the night with a tickle in my throat, thought fuck, last thing I need is to get sick.
Then I remembered I had some loose supplements I put in the zip pocket of my toiletries bag, went to the bathroom, opened it up.
But there were some older supplements in there too, and I couldn’t tell which were which, so I popped a few into my mouth, thinking maybe I had gotten zinc, vitamin C and quercetin, went back to bed.
About 20 minutes later I realized my error: my body was suddenly on fire in the bed. Those larger rectangular tablets were not Vitamin C but 250 mg of full flush niacin!
Eventually slept it off though and feel fine, so maybe it helped.

A client feature wherein you recommend say 3 follows of follower counts between x and y, and say up to 10 follows with follower counts below x. (Above y is not necessary because their posts are already plenty discovered.

Every election I can remember, the more charismatic person won except the last one: Reagan over Carter/Mondale, Bush over Dukakis, Clinton over Bush/Dole, Bush over Gore/Kerry, Obama over McCain/Romney, Trump over Hillary. Forget politics, and just ask yourself if there's ever been a bigger gap in charisma/personability than in this election. Then consider the economy which just massively revised down its jobs report for the last year, with inflation crushing the ever-shrinking middle class.

Similar experience — maybe worse — helping my 87 YO uncle set up automatic payments from their joint Chase account to his wife’s nursing home. After much of the same BS as below, got in, set up autopay, seemed to take but was rejected the next day. Did this SIX times, one of which was his local (in person) banker doing it herself, still rejected.
And his 2FA was to his land line so every time, we had to hang up for him to get the code and call back.

New conspiracy theory — variant of this earlier one.
They had to get rid of Biden but couldn’t get Kamala to quit, so they let her have the nomination (for now — and maybe that entitled them to the funding), but they know she can’t win and are now angling to replace her with someone they prefer.
Remember, polls are fake, news is fake, even betting markets can be manipulated. In such cases, always look to fundamentals which are twofold: (1) The economy sucks — inflation is crushing people; and (2) Unlike say Obama or Bill Clinton, who, no matter what you think of them were both gifted politicians, she sucks at this game.
So bad politician, bad economy. The polls are fake, the betting markets are manipulated.

The population’s memory-holing of the abusive covid response is foundational to so much of the present derangement.
You were not allowed to leave your house because the government said so! You were banned from eating in a restaurant due to pharmaceutical non-compliance!
Pretending that didn’t happen when many of the architects of those policies are still in power is taking a toll. People desperate to pretend everything is okay have always existed, but they’ve never had to pretend this hard

I think “standing behind your chair” as the counter example is already a win for censorship resistance. Way more resources and risky than your boss just telling you to delete or your fired or the government doing the same.
The goal of censorship resistance should be to vastly increase the costs of stopping speech. They tell you to delete it, and you say it’s on relays all over the world now that you don’t control. Too bad!

If someone stole your key and posted, you would just say what happened and get a new key, disavow it.
You are under no obligation to post at all. But the whole point is if you do post, you can’t be censored.

Problem with being able to delete is governments can say — “this is misinformation, delete.” No longer censorship resistant in that case.
But you could maybe have a separate category for shitposts that you don’t care about making censorship resistant. But nostr being deletable is like bitcoin transactions being revocable.

Deletable notes kills censorship resistance but maybe you could have two categories, deletable and not deletable, so if you post the latter it’s forever.
