I was a 21sats customer before I was part of this team.
I went through the full inheritance protocol myself. Hours of setup. Technical challenges I didn't expect. Multiple sessions with my advisor just to get it just right.
It worked. But I kept coming back to one thought: my heir will have a hard time doing what I just did.

I agree with your thesis. I don’t run Umbrel, but I’m a bigger fan of it than you seem to be. It’s tough for most folks to jump right into the deep end with Linux. That’s why I think Umbrel or even better start9 is a good place to start on the server side. Then run Linux on your laptop. Make it your daily driver. Learn how to make it dance and sing, and then if you like you can level up from Umbrel or start9.

Servers have a place just to push back a little. If all you want to do is run a node then that’s great. If you’re in the path to more true digital sovereignty then this is not sufficient.
