I just published this episode. It was my talk from dev/hack/day in prague about podcasting 2.0 from the XML.
The biggest ask I have, which I discuss, is for podcast players to consider, immediately prompting the user to also subscribe to a podroll when they subscribe to a podcast.
Substack does this like this, and it's crazy effective. I think it's a much more word-of-mouth way to socialize podcasts.

I can now log in, my my live feed is just on a nginx server and not managed for example by sovereign feeds.
I want to attempt a live music show ala homegrown hits for example. So I will have a playlist of DeMu ready to go. And I have BUTT to azuracast, and a LIT tag already going, but I'm not sure how the dynamic changing LIT tag works.

wait so where does the Metadata exist? In the source mp3? No?
Idk how these work. Azuracast has some websocket feature but it picks random mp3s to play from a folder where you upload the mp3.
So I would think it would have to go azuracast tells TSK it's playing X song, and TSK changes the tag.
Idk if that's how it works tho.

@npub18a6…pny4 I'm now running azuracast. If I load DeMu mp3 in the media AutoDJ can TSK know what song is playing and adjust the LIT tag appropriately?
Or how to sync TSK and an azuracast LIT feed?

With the proper tooling I guess it's OK. Yet another key though.
If the media is stored in the notes we are just pushing this problem to nostr relays.
I agree however it does eliminate DNS takedowns.
I think it's worthwhile to explore as a backup perhaps. Is anyone excited about this? 🤣

do you mean a signature OVER the xml or a signature in the xml. If the later, what does it sign?
If the first, now we have to sign the xml on each change. Idk, this seems horrible especially if there is SSL.
Does it really have to integrate this closely? Can we just not have a bridge that pushes the mp3 to nostr.
No one looks back at nostr notes older than a day.
Are people going to listen to podcasts in amethyst?

I'm recovering from this satellite skirmish. I just have to say wow. What an event.
One of the coolest live digital events. It went off so well.
I really felt the love! I knew I had my work cut out for me bringing poetry to a concert, but I'm so happy a lot of y'all appreciated it.

I'm all for that!
The best rss nostr integrations I've seen is people taking rss feeds of blogs and making them into nostr notes.
So they are subscribed to the feed via nostr.
Perhaps we could think of tag that supports nostr npubs. Isn't there one for other socials?
In any case, I liked your experiment! So I'm here for it!

Wget -r is i think a better backup than nostr if that's the goal.

oh yeah, rss works. The only reason to do anything nostr IMHO is to take advantage of nostr specific features.
What can you do on nostr that you can't do on a https server with rss?
In my mind, the biggest answer is content delivery without super reliance on DNS (let's ignore that relays have DNS names for a moment).
Otherwise, I'm not sure what's the benefit tbh. Someone on nostr might zap you 3 sats 🤷‍♂️

so I run my own nostr relay. It has all of the notes I published to it. I'm also publishing notes to other relays.
So it's there, there's no timestamp or flushing or what have you.
But if you thought getting people to run lightning nodes is hard, the nostr realy numbers are horrible 🤣
To me the biggest benefit is the feed exists outside the DNS system. And domain takedowns are real. But the feed and content has to be on nostr for it to really work.

if it's advertised as 90 seconds and is about that, it can be dealt with. Rather have a known quantity than a variable.
That's seems plenty fast anyway.

Ok, it may be the splits are actually working. On fountain I click the splits pie icon first and it doesn't show the value time splits, but only the feed splits, which then makes me wonder if it's working.
But post boost, it's appearing to work. I think.

Can someone help me troubleshoot my rss feed? On fountain, neither chapters nor TLV appear to be working.
On android, 1.1.11 the chapters don't load.
Also, when I try to boost during a song the boost splits don't appear to be using the TLV. (It works in other apps)
I'm sad because I think I'm doing it correctly but listeners on fountain want to boost @npub18da…zq3n and then it doesn't go to him 😢

how do I make a declared namespace?
Maybe I'll give this a go. I wanted some tag to indicate that a digital item (so at the item level) is also published in a physical medium.
For normal podcasts, idk if that does anything.
But let's take music for example. If a LP is made and shipped, that also exists digitally, I was thinking of a way, maybe a QR code, that could link up the record your are holding with the item in the feed.

What do you mean by this? Because can I not add the tag to the rss myself?
I once was thinking of a Physical Item Tag (but really wanted to use the acronym MIX instead somehow).
Anyway, I can just add the tag yeah? It will be ignored / shouldn't break things?
But also, it was evident to me, that me adding the tag doesn't really help. Because I need a client to support it. So I moved on. So, how does SF help with that?

what was the specs on that machine? I'm just curious what $80 gets you. I bought a new beelink recently and it was $250 for an i5, 24GB ram, 500gb nvme.
We all know hardware keeps getting cheaper (despite money printing!!), so my thesis is the everyone-run-a-node thing is possible at today's hardware prices, and even more so at next years.

@npub1rcn…dw4h why is lnaddress, with the option field being discussed instead of modying the RSS spec value tag? Perhaps the value Tag could be modified such that it includes other payment options.
The problem with lnaddres is now there is two look ups (and two sources). First you look at the rss, which points to an lnaddres, then that's another lookup.
If the RSS spec had this options xml thing, it could have keysend, lnurl, and then bolt12.
Perhaps this way it is also backwards compat.

Yeah I don't think the webserver bit is that hard. For example, the Nostr NIP-5 people somehow set that up for people.
I am mainly on CLN, which is why I haven't tried alby yet, so I was looking for a way to to have a lnaddress hooked directly to my node.
Now I understand that the node has to be publically accessible for this to happen.
But yes, this drawing makes sense now, thanks.

I get the current status, I think that's cool.
But why can't I, as someone who runs their own node, AND has the ability to host this website receive for example zaps (not keysends boosts) to my node.
I'm not sitting on anyone, I'm just confused 😀

ok awesome. This is great! The part I'm stuck at though is I don't want the keysend to go to my node, not another lnaddress.
Do I just put the keysend address like the rss feed or is there something else?
I'm ok the go at the moment so the answer could be in that thread but from the quick look I didn't see it.

I also don't get the video podcast talking head. However, my guess is that for example YouTube makes it so easy to watch people just end up clicking it and "watching" from there.
I wrote a poem about audio vs video.
The only reference you need to know is that in the book Infinite Jest, people watch a video so entertaining they don't want to do anything else and die.
