Today, @npub14pc…26fv & I restarted, relaunched, & revitalized copyleft-next.
All versions & variants of #GPL are great licenses. But, today, #GPLv3 turned 18 years old & #GPLv2 turned 34 years old.
At least once in a generation, #FOSS needs a new approach to strong #copyleft.

Software freedom matters b/c it enhance your right to repair & reduces e-waste — often unpredictably.
I buy used hardware & use it until irreparable hardware failure.
Every⁰ Handy I've had broke b/c HW power button failed.
Why? Its duty cycle is huge b/c default Android UI uses it to (un)blank screen.
“🍍Lock Screen” is a GPLv3'd app offering alternative quick lock/unlock methods w/out use of hardware power button.
@npub1kx5…0y3x is a FOSS volunteer who *gets* why right to repair matters. Thanks!

After serious irregularities in Board “elections”, I ask #OSI to either:
* reopen nominations briefly & delay voting deadline
* just end the charade of non-binding “elections” & admit OSI is governed by a (perfectly respectable) self-perpetuating Board

There's no shame in a nonprofit w/ a self-perpetuating Board & that's what #OSI is. “Elections” give the appearance of democracy where none exists. Lack of transparency on that is IMO root cause in these problems.

@npub1djq…zj5f 2025 Board of Directors Elections are plagued w/ irregularities:
1. Miscommunicating nomination deadline
2. Misrepresenting to nominators which seats were available.
3. Listing incumbent first in the voter's guide (i.e., not randomly ordering candidates in the list).
4. Telling Affiliate Nominees they need not be Members, then later requiring Membership to participate in voters' forum.
5. Failing to list all nominating orgs for Affiliate candidates.
