So let me get this straight. Companies having replaced their human customer support staff with an AI chatbot (an insult to both their customers and employees in so many ways) can be forced to pay massively over the odds for said AI by people asking it to do things like "reverse a linked list in Python"?
I wonder what other examples could be used to do such a thing? Just so I can avoid doing it, obviously.

Because I'm terrible at marketing myself (or alternatively that I don't view tdov as an excuse to try to do business) I haven't even thought to talk today about a translation of mine that's just been published. But I'm really proud of this, and actually some of you might enjoy reading about Eva-Lisa, a Swedish transgender pioneer who played a really important role in establishing the LGBTQIA+ movement in Sweden. This bit is about her childhood but there are also a couple of fantastic photos of her as an adult.

Warning to anyone else with a #Swedbank account - my e-faktura payments this month haven't all been added automatically, and in some cases (E.ON!!!) the payee has disappeared completely. Needless to say, Swedbank haven't a clue about why and can't help fix it. But check your payments, otherwise you'll find you haven't paid half your bills.

You can't. Even if you age check everyone using an online service, you still can't stop under-16s from using it. But you *can* gather lots of nice data from those older than 16, which you can then sell/leak, and which can then be used (as is happening in the US now) to target people the regime doesn't like.
None of this is about protecting the children, it's just an excuse that few people will argue against.
(Not saying I think social media is good for kids, it's not - it's bloody horrible for everyone, by and large.)

I live in a small town in Sweden. This morning I went out to my car (realising that I'd once again forgotten to lock the front door last night), drove along empty, wide roads to the nearest largeish town and parked in the brand new multistorey carpark by the railway station, where the first two hours' parking is free and the remainder of the time is very cheap.
I got out of the car without checking my surroundings, and as I leaned back in to get my bag out, I thought "In large parts of the world, I'd be asking to get mugged, or worse".
Then I walked along the clean, well-kept streets to the hospital, where I waited for less than 2 minutes for my mammography, which was completely free of charge.
This is Sweden. This is Europe. Why the FUCK are we trying to emulate, listening to, investing in or in any way having anything whatsoever to do with the utter insanity coming out of the USA?
And I don't just mean under the current, obviously barking, incumbent. I mean ever? They don't do things like we do. They don't believe in the same things that we do. This really is an us and a them situation, and we've been kidding ourselves for the last 80 years that they're like us.

This is a really really long shot, but is there anyone out there who works at Talkmobile in the UK and can sort out a fuckup with my sister's mobile phone subscriptions subsequent to her husband's sudden death? She has cancer, she has kids, and as you can imagine, she really doesn't want to be spending hours and hours on the phone/chat trying to get the company to JUST DO ITS JOB.

Well now I'm wondering if I've missed you already (we're about two-thirds of the way through it). Also, I'd slice your legs off, and my friend would drop kick you into burning oil or make you explode in some fashion. Unless it's close quarters, obviously, in which case it might well be a shotgun to the vocal cords, sexy or not!

Looking for a human translator to convey your human words to a human audience? Maybe that's me!
I translate from Swedish, French, Norwegian and Danish into English (mainly UK but US possible depending on the text - I also work with a USian translator as a team where required). I'm a full Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting for both Swedish and French.
I'm also an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading – in other words, I offer proofreading/editing/copyediting services too.
Oh, and copywriting!
I work on everything from press releases through sustainability reports to novels. Particularly fond of archaeology/history (got to get use from my MA somehow) and personal development, but really I'm interested in almost everything and translation allows me to be a nerd about all kinds of things.

I'm really loving how Mastodon has become a refuge for all the grizzled seafarers on the ocean of the internet. They pop up in my feed and their bios all say something like
"I've been online for longer than the internet. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. 56k modems on fire in the light of Usenet. I watched IRC forks glitter in the dark near the Gateway 3000. All those moments will be lost in slop, like tears in rain. Time to deshittify."
