Also the tell the artists in the Boost where you heard their song is super annoying to do. Why isn’t this info being passed on? It’s in Helipad so I know it’s doable but needs to be better.
If I’m really pumped while listening I’ll do it but it takes away from my listening experience and I’m sure 99% of them the artist don’t see because they can’t.

There has been a lot of talk about TLVs but one key feature that Alby offers is email notifications when you get a Boost.
I know several artists that have them set up to read the Boosts they get.
This is something that’s been broken for a while and a great reason to probably remove the message from the payments.
Does Nostr fix this? idk but I’ve interacted with a few artists on Nostr because I could tag them in a Fountain Boost and they see it.
Just a thought while listening to B4TS.

Good point. That is just the channel. If I notice someone is offline for several hours I’ll ping them to have them double check.

It’s a pruned node. On Start9 if you have less than 1TB it only keeps the most recent 1/2 GB of the block chain.
You can’t use some of the Bitcoin tool like the Mempool without the full blockchain but not buying a large SSD makes a node much cheaper.
TJ has the same beelink I do but his might be a little less powerful but I can’t remember. I think I told him to the cheapest one since he was only using it to receive payments and not a lot of other stuff.

It really come down to wether or not you still want to use Alby. If not just move the sats to a different lightning wallet when the time comes.
If you want to use those sats for podcasting use Fountain.

easiest solution is to spin up a new node with AlbyHub and have them do the Friends and Family thing.
This would be a temporary fix for now but the feeds should be fine and they don't need to setup a new wallet.
Have you had any issues with the F&F stuff TJ?

That makes sense. We were talking about listening to the old episodes for fun to see how many of our dreams we accomplished so far.
I knew IPFSP had them so I wanted to see if the feed would work in an app.
Listening on the website is fine but on mobile I have to scroll, wait for the page to load more episodes, scroll and repeat.

I wanted to listen to some old PC 2.0 episodes but when I import the IPFSpodcasting feed into Podverse and Castamatic it only goes back to episode 68 where the ipfspodcasting site goes back to episode 7.

During the Satellite Skirmish today I send 300k sats with AlbyHub running on my Start9.
I was streaming 500 sats/min in Curiocaster and Boosting on the liveislit.com website.
The show even had a maximum of 20 splits at some points.
That’s all. I just wanted to report that I battle tested AlbyHub and it help up.

@npub18jf…zfeh is working on a DIY node video. Most guides out there are 2 years old, us a several hundred dollar prebuilt node or are way too long and don’t cover what we need from them.
AlbyHub.com is also a great option and I’m working on a supplemental and cheap guide to go with Spencer’s video on how to setup AlbyHub on your node.
None of this is free but you’re in control of all of it and it works right now. (AH is still early but so powerful)

From what I've heard from @npub1glq…4zwa and @npub1ckf…xct2 the existing wallets will go away at some point but I don't think that's anytime soon.
Since you have a node now you can run AlbyHub on it and connect any wallet you want to your node. The wallet works the same as always but but uses your node for the liquidity.
@npub1z6g…amwj and myself have been playing around with it some. Its still new but seems to work really well.

I got confirmation from Herbidude that Helipad does work if your using AlbyHub for liquidity on a node.
I know Alby is working on Boostagram stuff but Helipad is still the go to for podcasters and musicians so it’s nice to know it works.

SirTruckDriver asked about running a node and he has a beelink already and flashing Start9 on it and using AlbyHub with an LSP seems like a simple first step.
Setting up a node to run AlbyHub on seems like a better solution to me than running the AlbyHub desktop version on it.
Is the node over kill?

I don't think streaming sats need to be per minute but do need to be automatic and periodic.
The best use case for streaming sats is music podcast or live shows. If I'm listening to Homegrown Hits, I want to send small automatic payments so that every value split gets sats from me. I can't be expected to Boost every track that is played.
Sending a single Boost to a show doesn't work when the show is switching value blocks every few minutes.

Eric you mentioned your Boosts not being read on PC 2.0. I’ve noticed some of my Boosts get picked up by the IRC bots and some don’t. I haven’t looked into this too much because AlbyHub on my Start9 still randomly disconnects so that’s a bigger issue.
I think it’s just because this is all new. Feels like the good old days where I wasn’t sure if my Boost were being sent or not.

The 74,250 balance is what’s left over from opening the channel. I paid a 80k invoice and after fees that’s what I have left.
I needed the sats upfront to open it but it only really cost me 5,750 sats and the 74,250 sat balance is mine to send out.

First thoughts - this is powerful. It basically the same as running a node but more user friendly. You can even use a credit card to pay for opening channels.
Use your own PC as a lightweight lightning node.
I opened a channel to a LSP for 80k sats which was the cheapest option.

Don’t worry those of us that have heard about it don’t really know what it is either. I’ve looked at it some but if I can’t send Value to a podcaster I don’t look much deeper since it’s just another wallet.
From what I can tell the Mint is kind of like a pool of sats (converted to ecash) so you don’t need channels to move funds around since it’s all mixed together.
This is the direction things seem to be moving in the BTC space.

It’s cool shit. I did notice that the Alby dashboard takes longer to load but other than that it’s working.
What Alby is building is going to be super powerful for Bitcoiners that use 2.0 apps.
If we had a lightning wallet that supported NWC I don’t see why people can’t do what you just did with your node but with a wallet on their phone.

It’s a little confusing but once it’s connected you don’t need to change anything in the 2.0 apps since this adds your node as the backend for the account you’re already using in 2.0 apps.

That’s different, you need to connect it on /node
Click Use Your Own Node and paste the NWC pairing string from the NWC app on your Umbrel.
The NWC app on your Umbrel is what connecting it to Alby.

I went to the NWC app on my node, hit connect app, copied the pairing key, when to getalby.com/node and pasted it there.
Any 2.0 app that I was already signed into with Alby before still uses the same log in and I haven't changed anything in the 2.0 apps just on the Alby website.
You can add multiple wallets to the Alby extension so maybe thats what your talking about with the multiple wallets.

Mine shows up as it always does but it just has my node balance attached to it.
I think connecting it to getalby.com/node is a "hack" until AlbyHub is released.

To help Alby test out their new wallet stuff I’ve drained my Alby wallet and will only be using it with my own node going forward so any sats received from apps that use Alby will be sent from my own node going forward.

This is one of the reasons I haven’t looked into things like Fedimint or eCash much.
Your funds are held in a mint that you have to trust and if it disappears, you mess something up or don’t understand it your funds are gone.
I know this is all new but this stuff gets caught up in the Nostr hype and seems dangerous to new people coming into Bitcoin.

I hope this is what I think it is. If you have NWC setup on your node you can connect that to your Alby account and use your own node in 2.0 apps.
Seems to be working that way from what I can tell. Anywhere I have my getalby account connected the Sat value is the same as my node.

Only available to community members so far but this is very powerful stuff.
You don’t even need to be a Zeus user to use this since it can be done on a webpage. Fill out the form, pay the invoice and wait.
I think the new Alby stuff will be similar but if you want your own node to run Helipad this could be the way forward.
Zeus is also US based so they have a vested interest

Zeus LSP added. I got 5 million sats of inbound liquidity for 35k sats. I was going to only do 1 million but it was still around 32k so I bumped it up.
I was able to receive sats with this being the only channel on the node.
Now I’m trying to connect this node to the Alby extension so I can Boost shows in Podverse but I can’t figure out how to connect a core lightning node to it. 😔
This might be a great solution for artist and podcasters to recieve sats once it’s out of the alpha stage.

I've been using Start9 because a lot of people seem to have issues with Umbrel and I don't have a single complaint about it. Also the documentation on the website really helps.
I didn't upgrade the drive in mine because I didn’t want to spend $150 on one. If you are using this mainly for Helipad and just to learn it’s fine.

A larger drive is preferred but not required. The larger drive is so you have a copy of the entire blockchain. With this it will only keep about 1GB of the blockchain.
My suggestion would be still use Alby or Fountain for your main wallet but add a split that goes to this for Helipad to read Boost.

Something like this also works as long as you have a monitor, keyboard and mouse to use during initial setup. After that you just use a web browser from a phone or PC to do everything else.
I have the 2 cheapest ones that I'm using as nodes.

I'd use the Lenovo. That iMac is old and idk if it can run the software.
Just know that the node software wipes the PC so make sure it doesn't have anything important on it.

Every app updates from the index in different ways so some just take longer to update than others.

My go to for checking these is Podverse. When the song is playing the Boost button turns green and you see the different ValueBlock when you are filling out the Boost.
I haven't checked it again but my Alby dashboard had all the sats going to the podcast when I listened yesterday.

I haven’t used Mutiny and all I know about it is that it’s run my @npub1rcn…dw4h’s arch nemesis Tony. lol
I do have it installed, just connected to a mint and when I tried to fund it I got a no route error. Maybe it takes som time for the Fedimint I joined to connect.
It has a LSP but requires 100k sats also.
