Legend of the Flame Princess is *such* an object lesson in the social dimensions of both commerce and collaborative art.
They put out such good quality stuff and had access to good writers and then *fart noise* and now they're putting out stupid meme-based gimmick adventures while the guy in charge rants and raves about how he's been poorly treated and is in fact a smol bean.

I've bounced off a load of #ttrpg actual-play podcasts over the years but I am fascinated by 3d6 Down the Line's run-through of the Halls of Arden Vul.
I've enjoyed it as the style of game they run is quite similar to mine (albeit with fewer dick jokes) and I can recognise that both the GM and the players are very good at what they do. You can see how well they process the social stuff. For me, this is what propert #OSR play should look like

Having massively over-promised on an immature technology with really quite a limited range of productive use-cases, #AI firms are now contriving to deliver.
However, because there is no tangible product, they are using their financial might and institutional power to bludgeon the Internet and society as a whole into an AI-shaped hole.
It's like a company that makes anti-diarrhoea meds pumping laxatives into the water-supply to engineer enough demand to justify billion of investment.

I really love books of #photography but I find it frustrating when there is no introductory text.
I get that photographers often lack appropriate verbal skills and some see text as necessarily overshadowing images but if *exhibitions* come with artist statements, why not the books that will quite often have been exhibited prior to publication?
I have one book and it has garnered some reviews and *every* review fixates on the title as it's the only handhold that the photographer offers.

I suspect that *fievel voice* somewhere... out... there... is an #osr style game that does exactly what I want.
However, because the writer didn't hire a cool artist or post a lot on the right Discord, the game is just sitting on itch getting two downloads a month and zero discussion.
Aesthetics is so often a reflection of power and social access. The wrong people doing the right things will never get recognition as humans struggle to disentangle abstract value from concrete social dynamics

Was driving home from Dartmoor the other day and I rounded the corner only to be met by a huge pack of hunting hounds who were being escorted somewhere.
Very me moment: Urge to grab my camera and take a picture VS Urge to roll down my window and ask if they were off to murder some defenceless wildlife in an effort to amuse some psychopathic aristocrats.

Frustrating time for me and the #NSR - I move back and forth between Cairn and Liminal Horror for about 80% of my gaming at the mo.
Both games have imminent second editions. Both second editions are palpably less 'generic' and are clearly more themselves in the sense that the creators' visions is being more clearly embodied in the text of the games.
Problem is that I don't like *either* vision.

Lads, do *not* sleep on the First Omen. A beautifully shot and gorgeously creepy slow burn of a #horror film. Rosemary's Baby + Possession put flesh on the bones of the Omen franchise. Amazing stuff.

I have never taken to Discord. I think it's the lack of hierarchy to the posting. There's no distinction between initial thoughts and follow-up posts so when you're scanning a channel you are forced to wade through raw *chat*
I can see it working well for small groups of friends (but that's kinda what WhatsApp groups are for) but established groups of people you don't know are just unbearable.

In fairness to Lego, one of the most hilarious things about D&D is how little memorable IP it has developed in fifty years of sustained professional creativity.
Partly a product of the way that early D&D stole from everything and everyone but 50 years and all you've got to show for it is the Beholder and Tiamat? Not great.
Sure... Dragonlance but that's a series of shit YA Mormon crystal fantasy novels and nobody who isn't nostalgia-poisoned likes that shit. Ditto Drizzt.
