I visited someone who provides free IT-support for his local community.

Dabei geht es um den Prozentualen Anteil.
Angenommen es gibt bei 100 Menschen diese vereinfachte Aufteilung:
10 Links (10%)
80 Mitte (80%)
10 Rechts (10%)
Wenn jetzt übertrieben 50 Menschen der Mitte nicht mehr wählen hätte man folgende Aufteilung:
10 Links (20%)
30 Mitte (60%)
10 Rechts (20%)
Du siehst das Durch nicht wählen der Prozentuale Anteil sowohl von Rechs als auch von Links höher gehen kann. Bei den Aussagen, dass es nur die Gegenseite steigt, wird unterstellt das die anderen alle fleißig Wählen gehen und die eigene Gruppe vllt. eher gemütlich ist oder zur Mitte gehört.
Dh. wenn man will das das die Gegenseite möglichst klein ist, will man auch das die Mitte wählt, obwohl diese nicht die eigene Partei wählen.

they are currently. yes.
But they got invented to give you a privacy solid alternative for custodial lightning wallets (Which are tbh IOUs as well).
Seeing how many people use custodial solutions that's atleast a privacy upgrade.
* And maybe there might be comming a solution making them trustless.

I'm not yet fully convinced about bolt12. However I'm open for ideas.
1) What do you mean by too slow? Do you have any data on that? And does a little speed decrease matter that much when it enables non costodial static ln adresses for the masses. (Which don't have their own IP2Tor bridge, domains or server)
2) Lightning is not private enough. There are allready analysises that try to deanonymize lightning tx by estemating channel states from gossip informations.
3) Finally someone beeing rational about ecash. Noone else seems to care its centralised shitcoin oracle technology.

There is off course a technical development. However we shouldn't try to challange this speed and rather stay lower.
Keep in mind that remote place don't have the newest hardware avaliable. And with supplychain shortages and trade wars enforcing one sanction after another the distribution of hardware may get more and more limited. There is currently one company(ASML, netherland) that produces worldwide 90% of the maschines that are able to make these tiny microchips.

1 year #Bitcoin onchain resumé of #Ordinals:
The trend of a faster growing blockchain I pointed out 1 year ago did not stop. Even tho according to some bitcoiners the ending of the hype would make it go back to normal.
In the past year we expirienced an increase of around ~91GB (Messured Feb.23 --> Feb.24) .
Before we had an stabil increase of ~65GB (Messured Feb.22 --> Feb.23).

Its clearly increased with the launch of ordinals in february 2023 and caused an additional ~27GB load per year. Thats an increase of 40% !!!
Funny rock pictures don't hurt anyone. So why does it matter?
Bitcoin's biggest asset is its decentralisation. Meaning that all users should be able to run their own fullnode and verify transactions them self. Not having to trust others.
However not everyone is able to run a big data centre like amazon. Some don't have enough money, others might have bad internet. Ideal would be that even in the most remote village in africa in an totalitarian state a poor guy can run a fullnode via tor.
But that only works on 2 conditions. 1) The totall size is not too big, so they can store it on drives which are accesable (lower end of size)and affordable. And 2) The incoming data is not bigger that the amount the can download per second.
Its easy to throw of the ones that have the worst conditions. But generally speaking every increase will throw off another lower layer of people, a level of decentralisation, with each increase. With 40% increase the ordinals protocoll however is no small increase.
We might see these results in ~4 years when nodes pass the 1TB (a common drive size). But maybe we won't even notize it since most private nodes run behind tor.
We can't really undo the activation, because lightning got so far. However we can standardize to prune Ordinal data. So we don't throw of new and existing fullnode runners.

I believe so. Never used them with bold's app.
But you can setup these cards on your own ln node. Completly uncustodial. Lnbits has many features suporting it.
You can also get these cards from the company: plebtag. They even have glowing laser eyes (LED's charged by NFC).

Ethical #Bitcoin question:
If I would have generated purposely a badly secured private key, with Bitcoins on its corresponding adresses, how should I handle it? Not knowing if the coins were lost in the first place.
Take it and hand it back to a better secured adress (via signed OP_Return communication)? Ask for a security fee? Take it all if after 6 months if noone reacts?
